1 Upland Terrace Community Council Meeting January Meeting Minutes 01/09/ /2015 (Friday) I. Call to Order Joe Wood called to order the regularly scheduled meeting of the Council at 1:45 pm on 01/09/2015 in the Media Center Teacher s Lounge at Upland Terrace Elementary School. II. Roll Call Roll Call is conducted via pre-printed sign-in sheet for councill members and any attending guests. All attendees must sign (or print) their name acknowledging attendance. Approval of Minutes From Last Meeting All council members review, approve, and acceptt final meeting minutes via . December s minutes have not been sent. Agenda 1. Sign Inn Welcome / do we have a Quorum? quo rum ˈkwôrәm/ noun - the minimum number of members of an assembly or society that must be present at any of its meetings to make the proceedings of that meeting valid. In order for any of our meetings to occur, we must have a Quorum, which is definedd as ½ of the regular council members, plus 1. Therefore, we must have at least 6 voting memberr attendees to proceed. 2. Minutes from priorr meetings approvals/com mments ACTION ITEM Joe needs to send out Nov & Dec minutes. 3. Jennifer SSAP Update See Appendix C results. Data added for first quarter to 4th quarter test Language arts discussed Plus Math improve to 80% proficient byy post test New benchmarks ACTION ITEM Jennifer to SEND out a list orr timing of POST tests. Post tests are happening on or around April 17th.

2 4. Jennifer School Leadership Team every grade level are represented on thiss newly formed committee; their focus will be data reviews. Met first in December, reviewed school results See APPENDIX B. District will hold a training/instructional meeting justt after the school grade how to improve Jennifer involving teachers in how to improve school grade USOE data results were shared and their grading system is seriously flawed See APPENDIX D. William Penn gets a B, with 53% %; Upland gets a C, with 56%????? ACTION ITEM Jennifer to work with District on updating/correctingg results. 5. Group SCC Training follow up Joe asks each council member for Two Key concepts of the training video s: 1. Always reviewing current plan performance, and creating new plan 2. Review data first, then create plans 3. No $$ (budget carryover) be sure to spend what you committed to 4. Communicate plans to legislaturee 5. Trust Land funds can be used forr Professionall Development 6. Voting the item must be on thee agenda, council members must be present in order to cast roll call vote (no votes accepted). Make suggestions for improvements, updates, and make it the goto place for information. 7. Group Communication Strategy (Marquee, School Calendar, Website, Blog, Newsletter, FB, Twitter, Backpack Notes) Our council has no defined communicatio on strategy. Group discussion on best methods to communicate. Newsletter is starting up what should we communicate next issue? Next issue coming out next week? What it is Joe to pull from past issues? Monthly we could provide a High level summary of prior meeting?

3 ACTION ITEM Jennifer willl be the pointt person, channeling information to the Newsletter. Council members should provide thought leadership each month on significant topics or ideas to communicate, specifically to the parent community. *** The meeting is ahead of schedule, we not havee significant time to PLAN for future meetings. 8.
