Burt notice of which was given on 16 th December, That this Honourable House take note of the Minister of Finance Response to the Report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Public Accounts on The Special Report of the Auditor General on The Misuse of Public Funds, tabled in the House on 17 th July 2015, tabled in the House on 17 th July Motion to be moved by Mr. E.D.G. Burt notice of which was given on 16 th December, That this Honourable House take note of the Minister of Finance Response to the Report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Public Accounts on The Annual Report of the Auditor General on The Work of the Office of the Auditor General and on the Accounts of the Government of Bermuda for the Financial Years ended 31 March, 2009 and 2010, tabled in the House on 17 th July Motion to be moved by Ms. K. N. Wilson notice of which was given on 19 th February, WHEREAS unemployment is at unprecedented levels; AND WHEREAS the majority of single parent households are headed by women; AND WHEREAS age discrimination affects women and their employment opportunities in alarming numbers; BE IT RESOLVED THAT Pursuant to the Parliament Act 1957 Part IV, I move that a Select Committee of the House be set up to examine the impact unemployment is having on women; and their families and to report their findings along with recommendations to the House as soon as practicable. 21. Motion to be moved by Mr. R. P. Commissiong notice of which was given on 19 th February, WHEREAS, it is acknowledged that unemployment and the underemployment of Bermudians and in particular that of black Bermudians continues to persist; AND WHEREAS due to the widespread use of foreign sourced low cost labour over the last two decades, real wages once inflation has been factored in have seen little or no growth;

5 AND WHEREAS incipient poverty, the erosion of the middle class and growing despair have led to charities and assistance programmes of various types being overwhelmed as growing numbers of Bermudians, including children do without the economic necessities required to lead productive and fulfilling lives; AND WHEREAS growing evidence indicates that along with rising property related crimes hundreds of Bermudians have become economic migrants and have relocated to the United Kingdom; BE IT RESOLVED that this Honourable House call for a Joint Select Committee to examine the efficacy of establishing a liveable wage for Bermuda. 22. Motion to be moved by Mr. C. W. Brown notice of which was given on 19 th February, WHEREAS numerous matters concerning immigration laws and policies remain contentious, unresolved and deeply divisive; AND WHEREAS there is a need for an inclusive approach for the betterment of Bermuda by dismantling historic piecemeal approaches and to embark instead on a method which embraces comprehensive immigration reform; BE IT RESOLVED that, pursuant to Part IV of the Parliament Act 1957, a parliamentary Joint Select Committee be appointed to enquire into the nature and extent of these historic issues surrounding immigration and to report on the enquiries and make concrete recommendations to Parliament as soon as is practicable. 23. Motion to be moved by Hon. W. L. Furbert notice of which was given on 26 th February, WHEREAS there has been a decrease in the number of jobs year after year for several years; AND WHEREAS we need new jobs to be created in Bermuda to increase employment; BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to the Parliament Act 1957 part IV, a Joint Select Committee be appointed to inquire as to the strategies needed to create new jobs; explore the impediments that are preventing the creation of new businesses, and the barriers for Bermudian entrepreneurs; to report on the findings and make recommendations to the House of Assembly so that concrete action can be taken in a reasonable time 24. Motion to be moved by Mr. M. A. Weeks notice of which was given on 26 th February, BE IT RESOLVED this Honourable House calls on the Government to hold a Referendum to ask the people of Bermuda by vote of either yes or no if marriage should remain between a man and a woman, and no form of same-sex civil unions be lawful in Bermuda; and further that this referendum be included on the Ballot at the next General Election Sessions House 21 Parliament Street Hamilton HM 12 BERMUDA March 7, 2016 Shernette Wolffe Clerk to the House of Assembly
