1 13 th July Daily Current Affairs Hima Das becomes first Indian woman to win gold in World Junior Athletics Indian sprinter Hima Das scripted history on July 12, 2018 by becoming the first Indian woman athlete to win a gold medal in the women's 400m final race at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships, held in Tampere, Finland. The 18-year-old is the first Indian to win gold in the track event of a world championship. With the win, Das has become the first Indian woman, be it junior or senior, to win a gold medal at any level in a World Championship. In fact, Das is the first Indian track athlete to have won a medal in the history of this competition. Putin is not an enemy: U.S. President Donald Trump described Russia s Vladimir Putin on Thursday as a competitor rather than an enemy and said he expected they would get along well when they hold their first summit next week. 5 Industrial production growth slipped to a seven-month low of 3.2% in May 2018 mainly on sluggish performance of manufacturing and power sectors coupled with poor offtake of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG). Factory output growth, measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), was revised down to 4.8% in April 2018 from previous estimates of 4.9%, according to the data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The IIP had expanded by 2.9% in May The previous low of industrial production growth was 1.8% in October 2017.
