1 Author Bios Jesús Ballesteros Graduate in Law (1965) and Doctor in Law (1972) with extraordinary prizes upon graduation at the University of Valencia, Spain. He is professor of Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy at University of Valencia, Spain (since 1983) and Director of Doctoral Programme of Human Rights, Peace and Sustainable Development (since 1998). He was Director of Department of Philosophy of Law, Moral and Politics at the University of Valencia ( ) and he has been Director of numerous research projects related to Human Rights, the Environment, Genetics and Global Justice, financed by Generalitat Valenciana and the Spain Government (since 2001 until nowadays). Member of the Board of Editors of following Reviews: Anuario de Derechos Humanos, Cuadernos de Bioética, Persona y Derecho, Ragion Pratica, Revista de Derecho Ambiental and Teoria del Diritto e dello Stato. Rivista europea de cultura e scienza giuridica. Member of the International Association of Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IUR) and of Spanish Society of Bioethics (AEBI). He is editor of eight books and author of numerous monographs (8), collective books (47) and scientific articles in specialized national and international magazines (40). Jorge Cardona Llorens He is currently Professor of Public International Law and International Relations at the University of Valencia, Spain and Member of the Committee on Rights of Children, U.N. Geneva. He got a Special Graduation Award (1980) and a Special PhD Award at the University of Valencia (1984). Teacher of Public International Law at the Universities of Valencia ( ; ; and since 2008), Alicante ( ) and Jaume I in Castellón ( ). Director of the International Law Section at the Bancaja International Centre for Peace and Development (since 1997). Director (and founder) of the Bancaja Euro-Mediterranean Courses on International Law (since 1997). Encarnación Fernández Ruiz-Gálvez Associate Professor of Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy at University of Valencia, Spain; Director of Department of Philosophy of Law, Moral and Politics (since March 2007) and Director of Master Human Rights, Peace and Sustainable Development (since September 2009) at University of Valencia, Spain. Her teaching and research focus on human rights and the equality principle. More recently she has also researched different aspects of the Theory of the State and the Philosophy of the International Relations, with special attention to the failed States (characters, reasons, consequences, reconstruction of the State). Ana-Paz Garibo Peyró Graduated in Law (1987), PhD in Philosophy of Law (2002), and Master in Law and Bioethics (2000). Currently is Tenured Full-time Lecturer of Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy at University of Valencia, Spain. She was Visiting Lecturer at Managua University (2003) and Tampico University (2004/2005). Also, she was Visiting Researcher at Oxford University (2008/2009) and University of Rome Tor Vergata (2009/2010 and 2010/2011). The focus of her research and teaching is the rights of the child, children in armed conflict, women s rights, Feminism and pacifism in the Islam. He was Director of Department of Philosophy of Law, Moral and Politics at the University of Valencia ( ). He is author of many monographs, collective books and scientific articles in specialized national and international magazines. His principal lines of research have been the personalistic thought, the reformulation of a general theory of the Law from the Constitution, the link between human rights and positive duties, the rights of solidarity, the immigrants rights and, different problems of the biolaw. Also, he is Substitute Magistrate of the Court of Justice of Valencian Community in Spain and Member of Hospital Ethics Committee of University of Valencia, Spain. Pedro Talavera Associate Professor of Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy at the University of Valencia since He teaches the courses of General Theory of Law, Human Rights and Legal Philosophy. PhD from University La Sapienza of Rome (Italy) and JD from University of Valencia (Spain). Visiting professor at Loyola University of Chicago (USA); University of Cambridge (UK); Catholic University of Chile and University Gabriel René Morenoof Santa Cruz (Bolivia).
