Become the President Do you have what it takes?
The year is 2037, and 2040 is looking to have one of the most important presidential elections in U.S. history. The country is facing some of the most challenging times it has ever seen. It is recovering from World War III, has people leaving the country in record numbers to go live better lives elsewhere, and there is a growing division between the people in this country, with which way the country should head. You understand the challenges facing the country, but also feel confident in knowing how to overcome them. Your mission is to try to become a difference-maker in a country that has seen better days. You may simply be a mayor, helping one of the many towns around the country, or maybe you will do so well at more important, but more challenging jobs, that you wind up becoming the next President of the United States of America. Do you have what it takes to save your nation, and go down in history as one of the greatest of all time?
Avatar Hello, I m your teacher, Mr. Armstrong. I will be going over some more information about how this year will work in a bit. Let s start by making an avatar for yourself, first. Your avatar will be next to your name on the leaderboards as you earn points throughout the year. It will also be your profile picture for your , so it should look somewhat like you! Create your avatar here!
Vocabulary Key You ll need to know these words to understand the basics of the game! Citizens = Students Parties = Small Groups Regions = Class Sections Followers = Points Citizenship = Classwork
Citizens You and your classmates will all start out the game as citizens, and your role will change as you pass levels throughout the year. Every citizen s goal is to become the President by the end of the year, but only one will be elected. In order to become a Presidential Candidate (Level 9), you will have to pass all previous levels, or be the first in your party to gain at least 1 million followers. The Presidential Candidate with the most points on election day (will be announced later) will become the President!
Parties You will take a survey, which will place you in a small group that you will work closely with throughout the year. Your small groups are called parties, and just like political parties want their candidate to win elections, your party will want your candidate elected, too. The entire party needs to be successful in order to have a Presidential Candidate. The first person in their party to complete Level 9 or get 1 million followers, is the party s Presidential Candidate. Click here for the survey!
Regions Each section (7-1, 7-2, 7-3) will be a region of the country (North, South or West). Regions will be competing against each other throughout the year. The entire region with the winning candidate & party will win something, too!
How to Win! Be the Presidential Candidate of the Party with the most followers on Election Day to become President. Be a member of the Party with the elected President on Election Day. Be a member of the Region with the elected President on Election Day. Prizes will decrease from top to bottom.
Top 5 Ways to Get Followers 1. Being a good citizen (Doing classwork) Every point you earn in class will earn you 1,000 followers! Quizzes, tests, projects, and every assignment in class will help you out! 4. Spending $ 1,000 followers -??? 5. Side Missions 2. Completing Levels 10, ,000 followers (depends on level) (Games, Vacation Quests & more!) 5,000-50,000 followers (depends on task & quality) 3. Completing Challenges (in Levels) *You will find more ways to earn followers, too! ,000 followers (depends on task & quality)
Campaign Cash You can earn money at various points in your pursuit to become the president. Completing levels, and moving up the political ranks is your best way to earn some dough, but not the only way. Money can then be used to purchase TV ads, hire more staff for your campaign, or to hold campaign rallies. Money spent on these things can earn you more followers, and can unlock other special privileges. Visit your Campaign Headquarters to plan how you will spend your money to win!
a) If you are not the Presidential Candidate for your party, you may want to give your money to your Candidate who may have more, so they can use it on a TV Ad, for example, earning them lots of followers. Or, if it doesn t look like your party is going to win the election, you could at least try to help your region have the candidate that gets elected, since you would still win something that way. FAQ (Frequently asked questions) 1) Can I give my followers away to someone, or have someone give me theirs? a) No, just like real politicians can t just give their followers to another candidate. b) 2) Can I give money I earn to someone else, or can others give me money? a) Yes, but not right away. As the presidential race gets closer to the election day (in May) you will be able to give money to candidates or parties that may have a better chance of winning than you do. Because this can be anyone s race to win, giving money to other campaigns is discouraged until close to the end. You want to win, don t you? 3) Why would you do this?
Level 1: Become a City Councilor By unlocking this badge, you will prove that you know the world around you. Challenges to complete to unlock badge and move to next level: 1. Complete either the U.S. Vacation Quest or the Leaving the Country Quest (10,000 followers possible, or 25,000 followers if you do both!) 2. 40/50 (80%) or above on States & Capitals Game (10,000 followers possible)
