5 Keynote Rastko Močnik (born 27 August 1944) is a Slovenian sociologist, literary theorist, translator and political activist. Together with Slavoj Žižek and Mladen Dolar, he is considered one of the co-founders of the Ljubljana school of psychoanalysis. Močnik was among the first Slovene theorists who introduced structuralism and the theories of Marxist philosopher Louis Althusser in Slovenian academia. He has written on several subjects including theory of ideology, theoretical psychoanalysis, semiotics, linguistics and epistemology of humanities and social sciences. He has also translated works of Jacques Lacan, Émile Durkheim and Marcel Mauss into Slovene. Močnik is co-chair of the International Board of Directors of the Institute for Critical Social Studies, Sofia and Plovdiv, and has written extensively for numerous international journals, including, among others: Diskurs, Eurozine, Filozofija i drushtvo, Kritika i humanizam, Migrations Société, Rue Descartes, Sociologicheski problemi, Transeuropéennes, transversal, and Vestnik Permskogo universiteta. Filosofija, psihologija, sociologija. He has also contributed to many edited anthologies, including: (Mis)readings of Marx in Continental Philosophy (2014); Encountering Althusser: Politics and Materialism in Contemporary Radical Thought (2012); Post-Fordism and Its Discontents (2010); and Conflict, Power, and the Landscape of Constitutionalism (2008). Močnik lives in Ljubljana and works in Belgrade (Faculty of Media and Communication, Singidunum University). Nathaniel A. Raymond is a Lecturer at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs. His research interests have focused on the human rights and human security implications of information communication technologies (ICTs) for vulnerable populations, particularly in the context of armed conflict. Previously, he was the founding Director of the Signal Program on Human Security and Technology at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI) of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health from From 2010 to 2012, he was Director of Operations for the George Clooney-founded Satellite Sentinel Project at HHI, which utilized high resolution satellite imagery to detect and document attacks on civilians in Sudan and South Sudan. Raymond was Director of the Campaign Against Torture at Physicians for Human Rights from , leading investigations into the role of US health professionals in the Bush Administration s enhanced interrogation program. He previously was a humanitarian aid worker with Oxfam America, serving in the field in Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and the US Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Raymond has conducted joint research with multiple United Nations agencies into the role of ICTs and digital data, including remote sensing, in improving the protection of civilian populations and the delivery of humanitarian assistance. He served as a consultant in early warning of mass atrocities to the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in South Sudan in Raymond was a 2013 Poptech Social Innovation Fellow, a 2010 Rockwood Leadership Human Rights and National Security Reform Fellow, and a co-recipient of the 2012 US Geospatial Intelligence Foundation Industry Intelligence Achievement Award. Aleksej Tarasjev, PhD is an evolutionary biologist from the Department of Evolutionary Biology in Institute for Biological Research Siniša Stanković, University of Belgrade, Serbia, where he works in the fields of ecological genetics and evolutionary ecology of plants. He is also interested in conceptual issues of evolutionary biology. Since 2004, he has been the Chair of the Serbian Expert Council for Biosafety (until 2009 National Biosafety Council). Aleksej Tarasjev has worked and is currently working for various UN agencies on biosafety and capacity building issues. Bülent Sarper Ağır is an Associate Professor of International Relations at Aydın Adnan Menderes University s Faculty of Economics. He received his Bachelor s and Master s degrees from Ege University, and his doctorate from Ankara University. Professor Ağır has taken a part in Central European University in Budapest/Hungary as a visiting scholar. His main areas of academic interest and expertise are Security Studies, theories of International Relations and the Balkan Studies. He has published many academic papers, articles and book chapters in internationally pre-viewed journals and books on those issues.
