Alan Sussman, a lawyer and author specializing in civil rights, received a B.A. and M.A. from University of Chicago. This collection contains pamphlets, newsletters, broadsides, clippings, handbills, notices, correspondence and other material representing political organizations and movements of the 1960s. Papers, [Box #, Folder #], Special Collections Research Center, University of Chicago Library Biographical Note Alan Sussman, a lawyer and author specializing in civil rights, received a B.A. and M.A. from University of Chicago. Beginning in 2002, he also served as Visiting Associate Professor of Philosophy at Bard College. Scope Note This collection contains pamphlets, newsletters, broadsides, clippings, handbills, notices, correspondence and other organizational and promotional material collected by Alan Sussman. Most of the items in the collection represent political organizations and movements of the 1960s, particularly pacifist, leftist and radical groups. A wide variety of organizations are documented in the collection, including groups focused on anti-war protest, civil rights, workers' rights, and intellectual freedom. Some of the groups
4 represented in the collection were oriented specifically to campus activism at University of Chicago; however, most of the collection represents groups that were organized at a national or regional level.
