3 Latest news Two weeks ago an 8 years long Carabinieri (Ros) investigation crack down three different criminal organizations in a joint venture to bring heroin and cannabis from Afghanistan to Pescara city, in the region Abruzzo, as a main hub for Italy. 71 people of three different nationalities (Italy, Albania and Bosnia) were arrested and 2 hundreds kilos of heroin and 5 of marijuana seized. Afghanistan drugs coming in Italy through two different routes: Albania-Kosovo-Bosnia or Erzegovina-Croatia- Slovenia. 1.

The police believe they funded the jihadist movement "Tehereek nafaze--e-shariat-e-mohammadi", with the armed wing operating in Pakistan under the command of Taliban leader Maulana Fazlullah. Moreover, the same criminal organization, was able to control the Pakistani community settled in central Italy, Spain and Britain or, more generally, the countries of Western Europe. 1.

7 Four mafia groups have chosen the cooperation among themselves and put aside any conflicts because the illicit drugs market provide a seamless money stream for all. By sharing resources and helping each other Mafia, Organized crime and Terrorism are able to produce and to sell more drugs everywhere the only big problem they are facing now is the following: how to satisfy the worldwide growing demand for illict drugs (ICSA, 2012) 2.

8 Mafia changed from an intermediate organization into an organization playing a main actor role in any social, economic and politic changes. At the beginning, to put in touch the mafia with the politic and finance worlds was the urgency to find out some possible use for the large economic resources earned by heroin smuggling. (Luciano Violante, 1987) Pablo Escobar established in Medelin the central coordination of more than 100 criminal organizations all born to sell drugs (...) they got the idea from the sicilian mafia both for the protection system and the final aim to create a State inside the State. 9 While the predatory degree of organized crime, which is marked by the use of violence to gain control over a given territory or economic activities, remains a main concern the thrust that emerges is that Ndrangheta groups aim to create liaison elements with segments of the official economy and political world to pursue their criminal endeavors and enrichment in legitimate settings. 13 Today the Ndrangheta is the most powerful and dangerous criminal organization in Italy and emerges in the forefront of criminal activities around the world. (DIA 2010) Its business volume is estimated at almost 44 billion euro in 2007, approximately 2.9% of Italy s GDP. (Eurispes, 2008) This comes mostly from illegal drug trafficking passes through the Calabrian port of Gioia Tauro controlled by the Ndrangheta. (DIA 2010) 3.

It was this group of guardians that formed the first mafia group. Until the Sixties the most important Mafia activity was the Malboro smuggling and its geographich area of interest was mostly limited by the Mediterrean Sea. Now Ndranghetisti are predatory sharks menacing all the world, but the water where they are swimming is the money made thanks the illicit drugs demand 3.

That s not a new strategy: The most violent terrorist group in the United States, the Weather Underground, were able to perform bomb attacks just in the period from January 1969 to april (Lee, Martin A.; Shlain, Bruce,1992) In their formal Declaration of a State of War against U.S.A, on May 21,1970, they proclaimed that Guns and grass are united in order to destroy the Empire meaning the Western Civilitazion.
