SOSC 212 LIFE AND WORKS OF RIZAL (3 ) The course deals with the study of the life and works of the great Filipino hero, his ideals, thoughts, contributions to the development of the Filipino nation. SOSC 215 SOCIETY AND CULTURE W/ FAMILY PLANNING (3 ) This is an introduction to the basic concepts in Sociology and Anthropology stressing man s interrelationship with other men and his environment. Basic to the course is the study of culture and social change. It covers current national development issues such as population and human ecology.

6 SOSC 215 SOCIETY AND CULTURE W/ FAMILY PLANNING AND HIV/AIDS FOR FOREIGN AND BALIKBAYAN STUDENTS (3 ) The course enables newcomers to get needed information about the life in the Philippines as they start their journey towards their studies and an eventual integration into the Filipino culture. Basic to the course is the study of culture, social dynamics, social organizations, sociological theories and social issues. It will also guide students to develop the right perspective in viewing, describing and interpreting societal events. SOSC 202 LOGIC (3 ) This is a course in correct reasoning. It deals with the methods and principles of inferential thinking, their application to every subject that calls for them and their proactive application to everyday life. SOSC 124 BASIC ECONOMICS WITH TAXATION AND AGRARIAN REFORM (3 ) This is an introductory course to the basic principles, concepts and functions of economics, Agrarian Reform, Taxation and Cooperatives in relation to economic development. SOSC 401 PHILOSOPHY OF MAN (3 ) The subject deals with man as a person and his existence in the world with the Bible as basis with emphasis on the Filipino in the context of his culture and society. HIST 111 PHILIPPINE HISTORY (3 ) The course its study in the roots and development of the Philippines, from its earliest known beginning up to the present with special emphasis on the sociohistorical and political perspectives of the country. It attempts to link the present to the past by considering the pageant of events that have shaped the nation s course and provide the students a better view of the direction it takes toward the future. It also covers a board approach in the understanding of the role of the Philippines in the international community even as it is a multi-cultured, multi-lingual, multi-racial and multi-religious nation. HIST 413 PRE-COLONIAL PHILIPPINES (3 ) The course centers its study on the Philippines the arrival of the European colonizers. It covers the study on pre-colonial Philippine its origin, development and the nature of the people with reference to its geography. HIST 211 PHILIPPINE NATIONALISM AND REVOLUTION (3 ) This course focuses on the evolution and expression of nationalism from the early Spanish period to the present. Case studies of nationalism movements are examined. HIST 221 ASIAN CIVILIZATION (3 ) This is a course on the civilization of India, China, Japan. It includes their geographical and socio-historical settings of these civilizations, Western encroachments and Asian responses. Focus is on the traditional elements of these civilizations, the connective elements that held these civilizations together and their relation to the world today. HIST 312 WORLD HISTORY (3 ) The includes the social, political, economics, religious and intellectual movements of the modern world from the close of the 15 century to the present. Emphasis is on outstanding world wars, the League of Nations and the U.S. HIST 221 CONTEMPORARY HISTORY OF CHINA, JAPAN AND INDIA (3 ) The course with history and dynamics of the Chinese revolution and current issues in the social and political development of peoples Republic of China in the context of regional and global realities. It also covers the recent history of Japan and India, and the current issues in the social and political movements in these countries in the context of the regional globe realities.

7 HIST 222 SEA, AUSTRALIA AND OCEANIA (3 ) The course deals with the study of the land and the people of Southeast Asia, Australia and the Oceania. It also deals with the similarities and the differences among the cultures of these countries, its influence with the other Asia countries and European colonial powers. HIST 321 HISTORY OF AFRICA (3 ) The course prides the students with a general knowledge about Africa. It will cover the areas on geography, culture, and the historical development of Africa from pre-historical to modern and future Africa. HIST 412 WORLD GEOGRAPHY (3 ) This is a study of the characteristics of particular places on earth s surface. It is concerns with the arrangement of things that distinguishes one area from another. It will not only cover the physical but also the social, political, economic aspects of geography with the emphasis on the Philippines. HIST 323 ANCIENT MEDIEVAL AND MODERN EUROPE (3 ) The course traces the beginning of history and to point out the various roles played by the Near East as well as Greece and Rome in making the world what it is now. It also deals with the emergence of new nations from the time of the renaissance to the present. POL SCI 111 INTRODUCTION TO POLITICAL SCIENCE (3 ) This study begins and ends with state. It deals with the origin and development of the state, its external relationship, its internal organization and activities. HIST 122 CONTEMPORARY AND MODERN HISTORY OF THE PHILIPPINES (3 )- The course centers its study on the social, political, economics, religions, and intellectual movements of the contemporary and modern history of the Philippines from 1946 to the present, with special emphasis on the signiicant events of the country. HIST 414 REGIONAL AND LOCAL HISTORY OF THE PHILIPPINES (3 )- This course is a study on local and regional history. It deals with particular history of the place like Barangay; Municipality or Province. Furthermore, it looks into particular tradition/s in locality. It is a research oriented disciplineutilizing interview as a foremost means of collecting data. PHIL 121 GENERAL PHILOSOPHY (3 ) This course is a basic study of Philosophy that limits on a major areas namely; metaphysics, which concerns with the question of reality, epistemology that treats about the theory of knowledge; and axiology, which is the study of values. It attempts to discuss the different view about the nature of man. Social philosophy is also given emphasis here highlighting the views of different philosophers and their approaches on how to solve the complex problem of humanity. HIST 311 UNITED STATES HISTORY (3 ) The United States History will cover the three periods of American History. These are: (1) The colonial period (2) The national period and (3) The present time, an integral of the larger modern world.
