1 Pinelands Police Bulletin January 2013 Meet Pinelands Police Station Commander Lt Colonel Helena Mouton Lt Colonel Mouton joined Pinelands SAPS on 10 December She writes as follows:- I have worked for most of my career in the far South, at Simon s Town and Fish Hoek SAPS. I was the Station Commander at Ocean View SAPS and also served as the Acting Station Commander at Muizenberg SAPS in My vision for Pinelands SAPS and the community is to create a safe environment for the community at large, especially for the children and Senior citizens. I should like to see them enjoying their well-deserved retirement within the boundaries of our area. I would also like to express my gratitude to the community of Pinelands, Thornton and Epping for their involvement in the fight against crime in our precinct. I hope that we will be able to involve even more members of the community in the fight against crime. We need the eyes and ears of the community to enable us to have a successful decrease in crime within our neighbourhoods. It is also a privilege to be able to say that the festive season went without serious incidents in our station precinct. Allow me to wish every resident and person employed within the area a prosperous I am looking forward to working with you. Please feel free to contact me at (021) Lt Col Helena Mouton
2 Liquor Premises All licensed liquor premises must have the liquor licence, the annual payment and appointment of managers in terms of Section 39 available for inspection on the licensed premises. This is important as it often happens that the appointed managers are not present on the premises. The premises, however, remain open under supervision of a person who was never correctly appointed in terms of the Liquor Act. This constitutes an offence in terms of the Liquor Act, for which both the licence holder and the manager can be charged. For assistance in appointing liquor managers contact W/O Troost on Attention All Designated Liquor Officers Please note that payment for the renewal of liquor licences can only be done by direct deposit in the Western Cape Liquor Authority s new bank account. The bank details of the Western Cape Liquor Authority are: Name of Account Holder: Western Cape Liquor Authority Name of Bank: Nedbank Ltd South Africa Branch Code: Account number: Account type: Current Account Reference: Please insert your licence number as a reference on the deposit slip (e.g. WCP number as on the right top side of the renewal form ). Please fax proof of payment to: (021) Arrests : December 2012 Theft of motor vehicle 4 Possession of presumed stolen property 17 Thefts General 10 Robberies 1 House Robberies 2 Drug-related arrests 9 Assaults 3 Housebreakings 5 Drunken driving 4 Fraud 1 Issued by W/O Waters Convictions Pinelands Case 125/07/2008: The case of the accused, Demetri Isaacs, arrested on a 212 statement on , was postponed to for trial. Members of all teams deserve a vote of thanks for their contributions. Keep it up! W/O Waters Safety Advice for Teenagers You have the right to say NO. No one has the right to force you into sexual activity, no matter what your relationship with this person is This means, no-one can force you to have sex, or to touch you in a sexual way, without your consent, or force you to perform sexual activities you find unpleasant or humiliating. Be open with your parents, female schoolteacher or your friend if you were made to, or asked to have sexual intercourse with a man without your consent Never hitch-hike. Do not walk alone at night. Do not accept an offer from anybody. Remember, it is not your fault if you are sexually assaulted. Do not allow anyone to touch you in a way that makes you uncomfortable. Be firm and clear and say NO! You have the right to do so. Do not leave a party or social event with someone you do not know or have just met. At social events, do not leave your cold drinks or drinks unattended.
5 Issued by W/O Tando Sonjica What to do if your house has been broken into 1. Contact your nearest police station immediately. 2. Wait until fingerprints and statements have been taken before touching anything. 3. Unless it is absolutely necessary, don t allow private security company personnel to enter the house or touch anything before the police have investigated the scene. 4. Look for strange footprints in the garden and point them out to the police. 5. A list of the make, model and serial numbers of electrical appliances and other valuable equipment should always be available for investigation purposes. Preventing a robbery at business premises 1.
