1 NEW ZEALAND On behalf of UniGroup Relocation we will be coordinating the shipment of your goods to. To simplify the process, we have outlined the necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition. This will also review your responsibilities in assisting with this process. In addition to the points below, the following pages will outline the requirements, which will be facilitated by our local representative to complete the clearance. They will assist with each item specific to your shipment so please be assured they will do whatever is necessary to facilitate a quick and efficient clearance. The documentation process, for example, passports, visas, power of attorney, etc., can take one week to 14 days plus the transportation airfreight seven to 21 days / weeks and ocean six to eight weeks, depending on the origin. It is extremely important that you take a few moments to review these important requirements, as they will allow us to process the release of your personal property through foreign customs. Customs and immigration requirements are established by the country of import and not by UniGroup Relocation. This guide has been designed to assist clients understand and comply with country-specific requirements. Substantial effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is current and correct. Such regulations, however, are subject to change without notice by the country of import. UniGroup Relocation assumes no liability for changes in the law or interpretation by enforcement personnel as it exists at the time you and/or your goods enter the country. Visa Requirements Details Please advise your local representative or UniGroup Relocation Representative of the Type of passport or visa you will be travelling under (residence visa, work visa, visitor s visa, diplomatic, etc.). When moving to, some specific documents will be required in order to satisfy local immigration officials. *Contact address and telephone number must be listed on all documents. Required Documents Details Visitors Visitor s Visa Completed visitor s visa application signed and dated by applicant. A recent passport-sized photograph with applicant s name printed on the back of it. Passport (must be valid six months beyond the intended date of departure from ). Nationals of certain countries can visit for up to three months without a visa but will need to be granted a work visa or permit to take up employment. Australians do not need visas or work permits as a special agreement exists between the countries. Nationals of following countries will not need a visa to visit : Effective: Oct. 23,

2 Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea (South), Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Portugal, Qatar, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United States, Uruguay and Vatican. Requirements for entry to : Everyone who enters as a visitor whether they are from a visafree country or not has to have: A passport that is valid for at least six months past the date applicant is to leave. Proof that an applicant has plans and the means to leave within the period of his/her permit. Suitable proof may include: Confirmed or open-dated travel tickets out of, or Evidence of onward travel arrangements. Proof that applicant has enough money to support himself/herself during his/her stay. This means: NZ$1,000 per person per month of the visit, or NZ$400 per person per month if accommodation has already been paid for (requires proof of prepayment, such as hotel prepaid vouchers). Evidence of Funds Flight Itinerary or Copy of Airline Tickets Parental Consent Medical and Chest X-Ray Certificate Businesspeople Business Visa Requirements for people not from visa-free countries: If applicant is not from a visa-free country, he/she will need to apply for a visa or permit to visit. In addition to the requirements for entry, the visitor will need to show us that: Applicant is in good health. Applicant has a good character. The visa applied for by applicant must match his/her intentions of the visit. This can be in the form of travelers checks, bank draft, and letter of credit from a bank, a recent bank statement or credit card statement showing available credit. Send original statement plus 1 copy. Flight itinerary or copy of airline tickets from travel agent or carrier confirming the purchase of a round-trip ticket. Written consent from both parents when child is unaccompanied or written consent from other parent when child is travelling with one parent only, or when a custody agreement is in effect. Requires the original or certified copy of the child s birth certificate. If applicant intends to spend more than 6 months but less than 12 months in, he/she may be asked to provide a chest x-ray report. The requirements for a business visa: Effective: Oct. 23,

3 Valid passport. Visitor visa application form duly filled out and signed. Family information sheet duly filled out (including full date of birth). Two recent passport-sized color photographs. Covering letter from the applicant on company's letterhead stating name, designation, purpose and duration of visit. An invitation letter from. Income tax papers/tds for the last three years. Bank statement for the last three months. Foreign exchange duly endorsed/copy of credit cards. Employees Work Visa Passport Proof of Outward Travel Arrangements Letter of Invitation or Offer of Employment Evidence of Official approval Medical and Chest X-ray Certificate Diplomats Diplomatic Passport Tickets Completed work visa application signed and dated by applicant. A recent passport-sized photograph with applicant s name printed on the back of it. Applicant s original passport must be valid three months beyond the intended date of departure from. If the assignment in is for less than 12 months in total, then evidence of onward journey arrangements is required. If the assignment in New Zealand is over 12 months, then the applicant must provide a detailed travel itinerary, showing his/her arrival date in. An original written invitation or offer of employment which must supply the following information: Name, mailing address, telephone number, facsimile number of the employer. Job title or designation. Type of work and responsibilities of the job. Details of maintenance, accommodation and repatriation. (If return airline ticket is not being provided by employer, copy of itinerary or ticket must be submitted.) The salary offered and the hours/days of work. The position offered is temporary. (Must stipulate the length of stay, e.g., one month, six months, etc.) If applicable, what effort the employer in has made to recruit local residents/citizens. Letter from Immigration that the employer has met the requirements for approval to recruit a temporary worker from overseas. If applicant intends to stay in for longer than 12 months, he/she is required to provide a medical and chest x-ray certificate (NZIS 1007). Required. Tickets and documents for return or onward travel. Students Student Visa Application Completed student visa application signed and dated by applicant. Letter of Acceptance Flight Itinerary or Airline Tickets Proof of Funds Medical and Chest X-ray Certificate Letter of Consent Letter of acceptance from an educational institution in in a course which meets foreign student policy requirements. Must specify the following: Name of course and minimum time required for completion. That the course meets foreign student policy requirements. The fee for the full course and the annual fee for the course if it is longer than one year. Applicant must provide the receipt showing that the tuition fee has been paid or that applicant s tuition fee payment has been guaranteed by a local university. If the course of study is for less than 12 months, the flight itinerary or copy of airline tickets from travel agent or carrier confirming the purchase of a round-trip ticket. Evidence of funds for maintenance while in. Students undertaking courses lasting less than 36 weeks must demonstrate that they have at least NZ$1,000 available to them per month for maintenance and accommodation, or NZ$400 per month if the accommodation is prepaid. Students undertaking courses lasting 36 weeks or longer must demonstrate that they have at least NZ$10,000 available to them per year. Funds for maintenance in may be demonstrated by either: A letter or certificate from overseas an accredited bank confirming the amount of funds available to the student. A letter from the educational institution confirming that accommodation and other living expenses are included as part of a pre-paid package (e.g., exchanges). A sponsorship form (financial undertaking for a student) guaranteeing the student s maintenance while in. Must be signed and stamped by the guarantor s bank. If the student intends to spend more than six months in, he/she may be asked to provide a chest x-ray report. For students under 17 years of age, a notarized letter of consent from both parents/guardian, allowing travel to. Students should provide original birth certificate to show the relationship of the parties concerned. A current permanent residence visa (including a resident return visa) issued by the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia. A current work visa or a work permit that was issued for a minimum of twelve months. A current work visa or work permit issued under the Work to Residency (Skilled Migrant Category) policy or the Long term Business Visa/Permit category. A current visitor's visa or permit that was issued for a minimum of three years. A client code is required to be entered onto Customs import entry documentation by the importer of the goods or their agent. This form needs to be completed by the importer / owner of the goods. Required Documents Passport A document authorizing residence in Inventory Insurance Value Customs and Quarantine Unaccompanied Personal Effects Declaration Details Required. A document authorizing residence in means any of the following: A current Passport A current Australian Passport A current Residence visa or permit or a current returning resident's visa or permit A current permanent residence visa (including a resident return visa) issued by the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia A current work visa or work permit that was issued for a minimum of twelve months A current work visa or work permit issued under the Work to Residence (Skilled Migrant Category) policy or the Long Term Business Visa/Permit category A current visitor's visa or permit that was issued for a minimum of three years. Copy of inventory/list of contents. Insurance value of shipment. All personal effects including household goods and unaccompanied baggage require quarantine risk assessment. The Unaccompanied Personal Baggage Declaration (NZCS 218) form is required. This form is used to obtain clearance by the Ministry for Primary Industrie (MAFBNZ) and the Customs Service (MPI). 6 Shipments Arriving by Sea Sea Container Quarantine Declaration Detailed Packing List Valid Treatment Certificates importer / owner of the goods. If there are more than four family members, you must also submit the Supplementary Customs Form NZCS218A / NQS QD1A If your goods are arriving by sea container, the following apply: A Sea Container Quarantine Declaration must be presented to Quarantine Department. This document should be signed by a manager of the packing or exporter facility that declares that the container was inspected internally and externally and was found to be free of contaminants. It also states what type of packing materials and wood packaging was used. A detailed packing list that includes all the items in the consignment is required. This should include the package number (for example Box 1) and a list of items contained in each package. Any valid treatment certificates (ex. fumigation/heat/cleaning) must also be supplied. Further forms can be obtained at the following link: Duties Details: Concessionary entry (Duty and / or GST free) for household effects is available to persons who meet all of the following conditions: Have arrived and on the date the effects/motor vehicle are imported, hold a document authorizing residence in. Full Customs charges will be required in respect of unused goods, or those that fall outside of the terms of the baggage concessions. Note: Goods of a commercial nature (such as factory plant and office equipment) do not qualify as household effects. Effective: Oct. 23,

7 Restricted and Prohibited Imports All countries, including, prohibit and restrict the importation of certain dangerous or sensitive items. There are strict controls on the importation of all plant and animal products into. The Ministry for Primary Industries in determines the conditions under which entry will be allowed and prospective importers are advised to contact the Ministry of Primary Industries, Import Management Office, Box 2526, Wellington, for further advice. Restricted Items: New items. Firearms: Shotguns with a barrel length of less than 508 mm (20 inches) are not permitted. Firearms excluding pistols) with an overall length of less than 762 mm are not permitted. Note: A police permit is required to import any firearms. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products are subject to duty and GST. It is possible to avoid paying duty and tax if included as part of a normal household shipment or part of a collector s cellar and the shipper is an immigrant or a returning er who has resided abroad for 21 months. All shippers are required to provide a full list of alcohol included in a shipment, including the type, volume and purchase price. Radio transmitters and telecommunication equipment may not be permitted entry. The following items may be subject to inspection by quarantine and must be declared upon arrival: Food items and dairy products Herbs and spices Stuffed animals and reptiles Bamboo, cane, rattan, basketry and mats Unprocessed wool and animal hair Dried flowers, bulbs, corms etc. Seeds, pine cones and potpourri Saddles and riding equipment Artifacts (wooden carvings, shields, masks, etc.) Camping equipment Farm clothing, footwear and equipment Furs, skins and hunting trophies Vacuum cleaners (be sure to empty all bags prior to arrival) For further information, contact your nearest office of the Customs Service or visit the Customs website or call Customs on ( CUSTOMS). Prohibited Items: Objectionable (indecent) articles such as videotapes, films, records, CD-ROMs, and publications Certain types of weapons such as flick knives, butterfly knives, swordsticks, knuckle-dusters, and any weapon designed or disguised to give the appearance of another article Cannabis utensils such as bongs, hash and head pipes, hubble-bubbles, hookahs, and roach clips with a pincer or tweezers action Ivory in any form, including jewelry, and carvings Tortoise or sea turtle shell jewelry, and ornaments Meat or other food derived from whales, dolphins, rare cranes, and pheasants, or sea turtles Medicines using musk, or rhinoceros or tiger derivatives such as ground horn or bone Effective: Oct. 23,

8 Carvings or other things made from whalebone or bone from many other marine mammals Cat skins or coats Trophies of sea turtles, all big cats, rare reptiles, cranes, pheasants, bears, antelope, and deer Live species, including pet eagles, hawks, owls and parrots, many cacti, orchids, cycads, cyclamens, and carnivorous plants. Restricted and Prohibited Exports Not available. Motor Vehicles Imports The following documents are required for the importation of motor vehicles: Required Documents Passport Document Authorizing Residence Details Required. Freight and Insurance Invoice Invoice showing freight costs and insurance to Bill of Lading Bill of lading clearly showing vehicle s chassis number. Odometer Reading Odometer reading at time of sale for export to Odometer reading at time of importation into. Driver s License First-time immigrants will need to provide copy of their driver s license. Certificate of Steam Cleaning If a steam cleaning is required; see Details below. Insurance Certificate Please verify with the local representative. Log Book Log book, service book or repair accounts. Detail information is available on the following website: It is very important the vehicle is not shipped until the client has written confirmation from the entry certifiers that the car meets the required standards. All used vehicles are subject to a quarantine inspection on arrival by an inspector of the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI). If the vehicle is found to be contaminated with soil, plant material or animal material, it will require cleaning sufficient to remove the contaminant. The importer is responsible for any charges for inspection and cleaning (if required). There will also be a structural inspection by and independent organization on behalf of the Transport Agency (NZTA). After Customs clearance has been affected, the vehicle should be presented to a NZTA agent for inspection and a compliance audit. When this has been done, vehicles including motorcycles should be registered with the NZTA agent. All three clearances (Customs, Quarantine, and the structural inspection) must be approved for the motor vehicle can be sent for compliance to be registered for use on roads. All new or used motor vehicles, including motorcycles, imported into must be certified by New Zealand Transport Authority (NZTA)-approved certifiers as complying with legal requirements, before they can be registered for use on public roads in. Please contact NZTA for advice on matters relating to vehicle standards and safety requirements. The importation of any motor vehicle that lacks an odometer at the time of importation is similarly prohibited. Smog emissions standards apply to all vehicles in. 13 WOOD PACKAGING MATERIAL International wood packing requirements are in accordance with ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures: Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade*) as of 5 July 2006: *ISPM 15 is produced by the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) of the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). ISPM 15 requires certain phytosanitary procedures, in particular heat treatment or methyl bromide fumigation, relating to wood packaging material (including dunnage) made of raw wood in use in international trade; the phytosanitary procedures are meant to minimize the risk of introducing and spreading certain pests that live and breed in raw wood. REQUIREMENTS OF ISPM 15 Wood packaging material in the form of: Packing cases, boxes, crates, drums, and similar packings Pallets, box pallets, skids, and other load boards Pallet collars actually in use in the transport of objects of all kinds, except: Raw wood of 6mm thickness or less Processed wood produced by glue, heat and pressure, or any combination thereof The wood packaging material shall: Be subject to one of the approved measures as specified in Annex I To FAO ISPM 15 (currently, heat treatment or methyl bromide fumigation) Display a mark with: o The two-letter ISO Country Code (in place of XX in the image below) o A code identifying the producer (in place of 000 in the image below) o The code identifying the approved measure applied to the wood packing material in the mark as specified in Annex II to FAO ISPM 15 (in place of YY in the image below; examples are HT For Heat Treatment and MB for Methyl Bromide Fumigation ) o Where debarking is required, the letters DB shall be added to the abbreviation of the approved measure included in the said mark o The logo as specified in Annex II to FAO ISPM 15 (this logo is the ippc trademarked graphic symbol shown in the image below on the left side) Effective: Oct. 23,
