PRIME MINISTER VISITS RIDING On March 31st, it was a pleasure to have Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visit our riding. He came to the Malvern Family Resource Centre to meet with caregivers and their loved ones. His stop was part of the Budget 2017 tour. During his visit he highlighted the new Canada Caregiver Credit and our government s commitment to extend tax relief to more caregivers, particularly those providing care to dependent loved ones. Gary Anandasangaree MP Scarborough Rouge Park Rouge National Urban Park I am pleased to announce that on February 22 nd, the House of Commons passed Bill C-18, an act to amend the Rouge National Urban Park Act. Bill C-18 will place the maintenance or restoration of ecological integrity [as] the first priority of the Minister when considering all aspects of the management of the Park. This Bill is now before the Senate and we hope to soon see it enacted into law. On May 15 th, the Government of Canada also transferred 21km 2 of Transport Canada Lands to the Rouge Park, vastly expanding its size. The park is a great gift to the residents of Scarborough and we are excited to have the first Urban National Park come to life in our back yard on Canada s 150th Birthday! As Canada turns 150 and we (finally) welcome warmer weather in Scarborough-Rouge Park, we anticipate an influx of visitors joining the celebrations and spending time with their loved ones.
