2 About EUGBC A non-profit legal entity founded by European and Georgian companies in 2006 in Brussels. Since September 2013, EUGBC also operates a representative office in Tbilisi. The objective of the EUGBC is to encourage investment and trade between the European Union and Georgia. 70 Member companies (small, medium and large size enterprises) involved in a wide range of economic activities, including energy, food processing, tourism, financial services, audit, legal, telecommunications, cosmetics, construction, information technology, transport, logistics, engineering etc. EUGBC is a member of Investors Council chaired by the Prime Minister of Georgia, which has been established in May 2015 with the support of EBRD. EUGBC has history of cooperation and strong ties with Government bodies, the EU Institutions, Georgian and European business community and SMEs
3 EUGBC Organized recent events March 21, Launch of the EU4Business in Georgia by EU Commissioner For Trade, Ms. Cecilia Malmström. Attended by Prime Minister of Georgia. EU4Business in Georgia encompasses a technical and financial assistance package of EU-funded programmes worth over GEL 160 million ( 62 million).
4 EUGBC Organized recent events May 5, Business Conference in Tbilisi European Companies in Georgia Growing Trade and Investments. The Business Conference provided a platform for European businesses operating in Georgia and for the Georgian Government to discuss benefits, opportunities and key challenges resulting from the provisional application the EU-Georgia Association Agreement/DCFTA
5 Georgian SME roadshows Background Signing of Association Agreement between the European Union and Georgia in June, 2014 has brought the political association and economic integration of Georgia with the EU into a formal legal framework and officially launched a new era in our relations. Implementation of AA/DCFTA (provisionally applied as of September 1, 2014, entered into force as of July 1, 2016) provides Georgian goods and services a preferential access to the 500 million people European Union market, as well as increases the attractiveness of Georgia for investments and creates new opportunities for the Georgian and international business. Objectives Raising awareness about Georgia s investment and tourism opportunities, as well as export capabilities Sharing experience between the representatives of the Georgian and EU companies regarding to approximation with the EU standards Facilitating business to business contacts
