9 Issues for discussion In 2009, the WB did a migration survey in Kosovo to study the role and impact of migration and remittances on Kosovo economy. MARKET FAILURES, POVERTY AND MIGRATION: CASE OF ALBANIA Speaker: Gero Carletto, the World Bank Issues for discussion The most recent example of massive emigration in Europe is the flow of over 700,000 Albanians (a quarter of able bodied population) in the 1990 s. The bulk of migration is informal.
