IMPACTONLEVEL: Local:Theprojecthasproventohavehadaverysupportiveandbeneficialinfluenceforthe200children mainlyfromsyrianandafghanorigin,withveryfewchildrenfrompakistan,somalia,iranandiraq.the psychosocialwellbeingandpositiveeffectonthechildrenhasspreadtotheirfamiliesaswell,whovisited the school and attended the celebrations organized at the closing events of each period. Parents expressed their gratitude in many ways, acknowledging the change they witnessed on their children through their participation in the project. We now know that we have reached our goal to give these childrenareal taste ofschool. International: Cooperation of different stakeholders such as municipalities (e.g. Athens), international NGOs(e.g.FCA,RefugeesSupportPlatformPAR,PartnershipforYouthEmpowerment(PYE)),scoutsfrom France.Valuablesupportwasprovidedbyvolunteers,whoformedbondsoffriendshipandlovewiththe childrenandassistedthepedagoguesinthedailyprogramwithcommitment.someweregreeksthree werefromtheportuguesengorefugeessupportplatformparandeightscoutsfromfrance. National:TheprojectfacilitatedthesmoothintegrationofthechildrentotheGreekeducationalsystem. The network of cooperation and partnerships of ELIX has been expanded: During thedesignandthe implementationoftheprojecttherehavebeenmanyoccasionsforformalandinformalmeetingswiththe representativesoftheministryofeducationbutalsowithotherinstitutionssuchasunicef. DESCRIPTION: Thesetwomonths,everydayfrom09:30to13:30theELIXgroupconsistingof:18pedagoguesunderthe guidanceofaneducationalcoordinator,afieldmanager,4interpretersandanumberofvolunteersfrom manycountrieswelcomedthechildrenatthe87thinterculturalschoolinthekeramikosareaofathens. Themainaimoftheproject πάμεσχολείο wastoprovidethechildrenwitha taste ofschoolingthrough awellstructuredproject,whichofferedthemsupportandempowerment,andpreparethemforasmooth integrationintothegreekeducationalsysteminautumn.wefocusedmainlyoncreatingachildgfriendly environment,fullofsupportiveandcreativeactivitiesofnongformaleducationinordertofeeltrustand acceptance,aswellasempoweringtheircreativityandengagementinagroup. The project is funded by the Finn Church Aid, (FCA), the largest Finnish development cooperation organization and the second largest provider of humanitarian assistance. Furthermore, Finn Church Aid specializesinsupportingprojectsaddressingtherefugeecrises. CONCLUSIONANDPROPOSAL: TheprojectendedsuccessfullywithnewcapacitiesforELIXasorganizationbutalsofortheotherinvolved partssuchasourvolunteersandourpartners. Thankstothepositiveoutcomesofthispilotprojectwearegoingtoimplementanewprojectthatwill address~1300refugeechildrenallyearlongindifferentsitesingreecewiththesupportofunicefand otherinstitutions. WHOWAS/ISTOBEINVOLVED: GENÇTURsuppliedinternationalvolunteersforalocalorganizationdealingwithrefugeesfortheirlocal projecttorunacircusforlocal+refugeekidsonthestreetsandrefugeecamps. IMPACTONLEVEL:Local DESCRIPTION: MardinYouthandCultureAssociationisgoingtoorganizea Circus&StreetArtsFestival andtheyneed volunteerstoprepare,runandperforminit.thefestivalgroupsaregoingtovisitnearbytownsandthe refugeecampstomeetchildrenandyouthlivingthere.anybodyiswelcomebutpeoplewithskillson circusorstreetartslikejuggling,clowning,stickwalking,tightropedancinggwalking,fireblowing,capoera, mime,graffiti,acrobacy,illusion,etc.,areespeciallywelcome. Work: Helping the organisation committee to prepare the festival, setting up stands, tents, hanging posters, inviting people by different activities. But if you have a talent as mentioned above you can performandteachittothelocals.a:inadormitory.sleepingbagandmatarenotnecessary.f:willbe suppliedatthesite.r:amotivationletterincludingsomepicturesaboutyourtalent(ifpossible)alongwith theapplicationform.lo:mardinisacityinsouthgeastofturkeyborderedtosyriabutnoteffectedfrom theeventsthere.thehostwillmeetallthevolunteersinmardinairportonthefirstdayofthecamp. Thecircusprojectwasabigattractionintheregionandanoccasiontobringlocalandrefugeekids together.althoughafterthefirstyear,therewasnopermissionforthelocalhosttogetintotherefugee camps,itwasstillasuccessasthereweremanyrefugeefamilieslivingoutofthecamps,inthecity. Volunteersperformedseveralactivitiesforkidsandgavetrainings. CONCLUSION/PROPOSAL/CALLFORACTION: The situation in the region stopped us for sending volunteers as there was no application due to the locationoftheprojectbuttheactivitiesarestillgoingoninthelocallevel.weneedinterestedandbrave volunteerstogototheregion,joinintheactivitiesandsupporttheproject. WeneedthesupportofthepartnerIVSorganizationstopromotetheprojectandtrytoconvincetheir outgoingvolunteerstoapplyforit.refugeekidssufferingofthecurrentsituationneedsomethingnew andniceintheirlife. Agroupleaderandfourteenagevolunteers IMPACTONLEVEL:Local,International DESCRIPTION: The project had two parts: a training course for campgleaders in voluntary camps and a youth exchange/workcampwheretheyhadanopportunitytoimplementacquiredknowledgeandskills. Duringthetrainingcourseparticipantshadworkshopsondifferenttopicsimportantforfutureleadersin socialinclusionvoluntaryprojects. Participantsrepresented5countries:Serbia,Russia,Italy,SpainandGermany. The youth exchange/workcamp had participants from the same countries as well as refugees based in Germany. The project had the advantages of the YE and workcamp: in the morning participants had volunteering tasks (manual), in the afternoons participants took part in workshops organized by group leadersondifferenttopic,suchassocialinclusion,interculturallearning,etc. CONCLUSION/PROPOSAL/CALLFORACTION: It scomplicatedtoassesstheimpactthatthisprojecthadontheparticipantswithmigrantbackground, however, there were many positive outcomes of this project for Russian participants and us as organization:increasedinterestinthetopicamongrussianyoungsters,desiretoenrichtheirknowledge basedonrealpersonalexperienceandnotmediarepresentation;intentionofusasanorganizationtotake part in more projects of similar nature and organize activities in Russia to raise awareness about these issues. 6 IMPACTONLEVEL: OnthelocalandnationallevelsomeasylumseekerswholiveinMarcheGenGFamenneandwhotookpartin EldoradoYE,keepontakingpartinotherprojectswithusandbecameCBBconstantlyinvolvedvolunteers; these volunteers with a migrant background will be proposed to attend CBB training for work camps leadersandincasetheywishtokeepobeinginvolvedintheassociation,theywillbeaskedtoproposeus theirownproject,toleadaworkcamporyouthexchangeandtotakeresponsibilitiesintheassociation. OnthelocalandnationalleveltheartisticproductionofEldoradoYouthExchangehavebeenpresentedin thebiennaled ArtdeJodoigne,anartisticeventrunninginaFederalasylumseekerscenterofBelgium. FurthermoretheprojectresulthasbeenpresentedduringtheCBBannualdaywhichwasholdthisyearin October8 th andwhichwasattendedby100people(cbbvolunteersandlocalpartnersrepresentatives).on CBBdayarepresentativeofthenationalagencyoftheFrenchspeakingpartofBelgiumcamewasthere andwatchedtheartisticproductionsandthevideoastheresultofeldoradoyouthexchange.ournational agencycameaswellontheprojectvenuewhentheactivitieswererunningandgaveusaverypositive feedback. OntheinternationallevelEldoradoparticipantstookpartinthePeaceactionweekbytakingpartina virtual action held on Facebook, on October 20 th. Participants spread the video produced during the exchange and each of them put as his/her Facebook profile image, the picture taken of him/her under duringtheartisticworkshopsholdundertheframeoftheproject. All the youngsters went back to their countries and hopefully they will be there promoters of value as culturaldialogueandsolidaritysomultipliers. The video produced during Eldorado project is visible on CBB Facebook page OtherinformationavailableonCBBwebsite DESCRIPTION: TheYouthexchangewaspartofabigger umbrella projectnamedwelcomerefugees. ThespecificEldoradoprojectwasbornbyanideaandproposaloftwovolunteerswhoareverysensitiveto theasylumseeker ssituationandareveryactiveincbborganization. The project aimed at giving participants the opportunity to know more about current forced migration crisis,tobreakstereotypes,tomeetsomeoftheasylumseekershostedinthecenterofrendeux. Participantswithmigrantbackgroundwereactivelyinvolvedintheactivitiesandweregiventhespaceto sharetheirlifestorieswiththeothers.artisticworkshopswereproposedtoreflectaroundthetheme. 7 CONCLUSION/PROPOSAL/CALLFORACTION: Theprojectseemedveryappreciatedbyparticipants.Nevertheless,thereisstillspaceforimprovement. Rethinkingtheprojectandincaseofasecondprojectedition,theactivitycanbeforeseenasitfollows: - Asylum seekers participants will be involved in the project from the very beginning; they will be involvedintheprojectpreparationwiththeprojectcoordinator;theprojectwasbornasanideaoftwo volunteersveryimplicatedincbb.astheprojectwasaboutasylumseekers situationforanextedition asylumseekerswillbeproposedtotakepartintheveryfirstphaseoftheprojectpreparation; - Eachasylumseekerparticipantwillbeputintouchwithaprojectleaderorresponsibletolethim/her createwithhimarelationshipofconfidencebeforetheprojectstarting,thisinordertobeateaseto sayifsomethingisnotworkingforhim/herduringtheactivitiesortoaskforadeepersupport;thisalso inordertolettheprojectcoordinatorknowbettertheparticipantwiththisparticularprofilebefore thebeginningoftheactivities; - Theprojectwillbebetterpromotedamongthelocalcommunityinordertohavemorelocalpeople attendingtheprojectresultpresentationonthelastday. FollowingthesestepstheprojectwillnotbeanactivityaimedtodealABOUTasylumseekersbutitwillbe anactivityimplementedwithasylumseekers. Theprojectresultisavideo,whichwillbeusefultopromotevaluesasinterculturaldialogue,openness,the importancetolistentootherpeople slifestories,thediversityofeachperson slifestoryetc. The project result has been shared also during CBB annual day and shared with our entire volunteers network. Aftertakingpartinthisproject,someyoungsterswithasylumseekerbackgroundhavebeenproposedto takepartinotherprojectswithcbb. CBBwillfurtherfosterasylumseekers participationintheirvolunteeringprojectsandtoworkonalong termstrategy:afterafirstparticipationinoneofouractivitieswewillalwaysproposetoourvolunteers with asylum seeker background to keep on being active in the association life as becoming workcamps animators,beinvolvedinourlocalactivities. Volunteershadalsotheopportunitytosleepsomenightsinthecenterandthiswasdefinitelyaverystrong experienceforthem. Sharingforashorttimewithasylumseekersthespaceweretheyliveallowedthemtounderstandmore asylumseekers conditionsoflife,problems,hopesandexpectations. Throughartisticworkshops,participantsrealizedavideowhichwillbespreadbyCBB,Allianssiandalltheir partnersamongawiderpublicinordertosensitizemanypeopletotheasylumseekers topic. CONCLUSION/PROPOSAL/CALLFORACTION: A volunteer of CBB who is very committed with asylum seekers topic proposed this project to CBB. Participantsrealizedavideoaboutthethemeandthisvideowillhelpustopromotevaluesasintercultural dialogue,openness,andawarenessaboutasylumseekers topic. CBBdecidedtofurtherfosterrefugees participationinourvolunteeringprojectsandtoworkonalong term strategy: after a first participation in one of our activities we will always propose to our asylum seekers volunteers to keep on be active in the association life (becoming work camps animators, be involvedinourlocalactivities.). Foranextprojecteditiontheywillbeinvolvedintheprojectpreparationsincetheverybeginningtotake partinallthestepsoftheactivity.theywillbealsoputintouchwiththeprojectcoordinatormuchbefore theprojectstartinginordertocreatewiththispersonatrustrelationship.thiswillbeinordertoprovide themwithareinforcedsupportandmentorshipifneeded. 9 PRESENTINGORGANIZATION,COUNTRY: VJFGermany TITLE: Beingacampleader WHENANDWHERE: DuringSummerin2016 KEYWORDS: Campleaderrefugee,VJF WHOWAS/ISTOBEINVOLVED: AmigrantfromPakistan,2EVSvolunteersandVJF IMPACTONLEVEL:International DESCRIPTION: ThisyeartheGermanorganizationVJFwascooperatingwitharefugeecentre;someplacesinworkcamp projects in Berlin were offered to young migrants. Youngsters from the centre were participating in an early workcamp, together with 2 girls, doing their European Voluntary Service (EVS) in VJF. The EVS volunteersweresupposedtoleadworkcamps,soweastheorganizationwantedthemtojoininacamp firsttomakeiteasierforthem.theevsvolunteersandoneofthemigrants,ayoungpakistani,started beingfriends.thisyoungmanwaswelleducatedandhasheardaboutivsprojectsbefore.itwasagood pointtostartwith,sohewasaskedinbeingacogleaderinanothercamp,togetherwiththeevsgirls.in theend,itwasaveryniceandinstructivecooperationbetweenthem,theorganizationvjfandthehosts. OneoftheEVSgirlsinturnsandtheyoungmanfromPakistanledonecampaftertheotherduringthe summer.theybecamegoodfriends,spentthefreetime(yes,theyalsohadfreetime)togetherandwe always had a friendly and nice cooperation with them. The girl helped him in just being there as new friends.theyoungmancouldspendhistimeoutsideoftherefugeecentre,asportshallwithoutmuch spaceforindividualism.itwasanicesummerforthem,forvjfandforthevolunteerstheyhavemet.the youngmanfrompakistanwasabletotellhisstoryanditwasinterestingforthevolunteerstohearit. IMPACTONLEVEL:International DESCRIPTION: Inallourprojectswepromotesocialinclusionanddiversity. In our permanent social inclusion projects we host several migrants and refugees who have the opportunity to work with us as paid staff from 6 months up to 1, sometimes 2 years. They work with Frenchpeoplewhoarefacingsocialproblemslikelongperiodsofunemployment,addictions,disabilities, etc.ineveryprojecttheyarefollowedbytwopeopleofourorganisation:onefollowthemontheproject duringthetechnicalworks,andanotheronehelpthemtopreparetheirselvesforafterwards,solooking forajob,atraining,cv,learnandimprovetheirfrench,etc. Inallourteenagecamps,andinsomeofouradultcampswehostunaccompaniedforeignyoungpeople. TheystayinourcampsforacoupleofweekswithFrenchandinternationalvolunteers.Someofthemare infrancesincejustonemonthandtheydon'tspeakfrench.soparticipateinacampisagoodwayto starttopracticeandlearnfrench,andsogetintegratedfaster,asinallourcampswehavealsofrench volunteers(especiallyintheteencampswheretheyarehalffrenchandhalfinternationalvolunteers). Wearewaitingforfundingforanewprojectwithacentrethathostasylumseekers.Ifwegetfunds,a group of asylum seekers will work in one of our permanent social inclusion projects. We have several socialinclusionprojectsinthesameareaofthecentrethathosttheasylumseekerssowe'llseeifthe asylumseekerswilljoinone,orseveralprojects,orifwe'lldoanewprojectwheretheywillworkwith locals.wehopewecangetthefundingandstarton2017or2018. CONCLUSION/PROPOSAL/CALLFORACTION: Alltheorganisationsthatdoworkcamps/projectsmighthostmigrants,asylumseekersandrefugees,if theywishandiftheirnationallawsallowthemtodoso. Theycancontactthecentreswhohostmigrants,asylumseekersandrefugees,ortheassociationswho workwiththemandseehowtocooperate. 12 DESCRIPTION: Mentorship programme to promote the personal integration of migrants in the city of Vienna. The volunteersusuallytakepartinrenovationactivitiesinthecenterstogetherwithresidentsanddeveloping recreationalactivities(sports,games,drawing,painting,internationaldinners,excursions )for/withthe residents of the centers. Volunteers spent a lot of time with asylum seekers and live within the center duringthewholeworkcamp.theseprojectswereverysuccessful.volunteerslearnedalotaboutrefugees issues,theirstoriesandthegeneralsituationofmigrantsintheworld.in2016,inordertoincreasethe impactofthisexperience,itwasdecidedtogetherwiththehostthataformerasylumseekers,whogot grantedwiththerefugeestatuswouldstaywiththegroupofthevolunteersduringthewholeproject.the presenceofthissyrianrefugeewiththevolunteershadagreatimpactontheworkcampas: G he was able to answer questions about the asylum procedure and the specificities of the centre wheneverthevolunteershadquestions G hewaswillingtosharehisstorywiththevolunteers,whilethiscouldbequitesensitivewiththeasylum seekers G hecouldtranslatethediscussionsandthereforeallowabettercontactwithasylumseekerswhospeak ArabicandnotEnglish G hewastotallyincludedinthegroupofvolunteersasparticipantandhadaspecialrelationshipwiththe volunteers G allthevolunteersfeedbackswereverypositive,theywereeagertolearnmoreaboutmigrationissues andbuiltstrongrelationshipamongthem.
