3 Employer Liaison Network Six officers (Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Halifax) Provide Canadian employers and potential clients with useful and up to date information Increase awareness Facilitate linkages between Canadian employers and skilled labour overseas Coordinate the immigration promotion and recruitment activities of Canadian diplomatic offices overseas with the labour needs of employers in Canada. 3

8 Two Step Application Process for Candidates 8

9 Step 1: Create a Profile Candidates complete a profile with information about their skills, work experience, language ability, education and other details Candidates must meet the criteria of at least one of the federal economic immigration programs Profiles need to be up to date at all times and reflect any changes in status. E.g. language, education, family composition, etc. Candidates must be truthful in their profile or risk penalties Profiles stay in the pool for up to 1 year 9

10 Step 2: Invitation to Apply (ITA) In each round, ITAs are issued to the highest scoring candidates in the pool Candidates have 90 days to submit their complete electronic application for permanent residence once invited At application, IRCC verifies candidate eligibility and admissibility criteria Express Entry candidates benefit from processing times of six months or less Candidates with a job offer or a provincial/territorial nomination are given additional points and are invited to apply quickly *80% of cases from receipt of complete application for permanent residence to final decision. 10

16 Canadian Experience Class Key criteria At least 12 months of skilled Canadian work experience (in a NOC 0, A or B job) within the last three years Language skills (for NOC 0 and A jobs = CLB 7 in all 4 abilities; for NOC B job = CLB 5 in all 4 abilities) 16

17 Federal Skilled Worker Program Key criteria: At least one year of continuous work experience within the last 10 years (in a NOC 0, A or B job), in Canada or in another country Language skills (CLB 7 in all 4 abilities) Education (Canadian secondary or post secondary certificate, diploma or degree, or the foreign equivalent) 17

18 Federal Skilled Trades Program Key criteria : At least 24 months of work experience in an eligible skilled trades within the last five years Meet the job requirements of the skilled trade as set by the NOC (except the requirement related to certification) Language skills (CLB 5, speaking and listening; CLB 4, reading and writing) Have a valid job offer in the skilled trade for at least one year, or a Canadian certificate of qualification in the skilled trades All work experience in this program falls under NOC B 18
