2 news page President Kennedy was from Massachusetts. Kennedy was in the Democratic Party. In 1960, Americans elected Kennedy as president. Kennedy was the youngest elected president, at age 43. He was a very popular president! page 2
3 news page Kennedy gave some famous speeches. In his first speech as president, he said: Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country. Kennedy wanted Americans to help each other. page 3
4 news page Kennedy was president for only three years. But he did a lot in that short time! Kennedy wanted America to be a leader in space. He wanted to send Americans to the Moon. American astronauts landed on the Moon in page 4
5 news page Kennedy also wanted Americans to help the world. He started the Peace Corps in Corps volunteers still help people around the world today. Volunteers teach farming, business, technology and more. November 18, n2y page 5
6 news page Kennedy had more ideas for America too. In 1963, he was getting ready for the next election. On November 22, Kennedy flew to Dallas, Texas. He planned to give a speech there, but never did. A bad man ended President Kennedy s life that day. page 6
