1 A Message from the Chief Returning Officer Dear Nominees, Thank you for your interest and congratulations on taking the first step to becoming involved in student politics at Brock University. This package is intended to provide you with all of the necessary forms you will need to submit in order to successfully run a campaign during this election period. 2 2018 BUSU March Election Nomination Package Nominations Open: Friday, September 28, 2018 Nominations Close: Friday, October 5, 2018 at 4:30pm *Packages must be handed in by 4:30 pm to the BUSU Reception Desk. No late submissions will be permitted. * CANDIDATE NAME: Positions Available (check one): Brock University Students Administrative Council (BUSAC) Faculty of Social Science one seat available Extra Faculty one seat available Student at Large (any faculty) five (5) seats available Brock University Senate: One year term (ending 2019) two seats available Two year term (ending 2020) two seats avaialble During the nominations process, potential candidates may communicate their platform on a one-toone verbal basis with potential nominators. This is allowed for the simple purpose of enticing nominations and is in no way intended to be an avenue for obtaining votes or information dissemination prior to the outlined campaign period. Failure to comply with this rule may result in the issuing of an infraction pursuant to By-law 400.

3 Important Dates All Candidates Meeting: Friday, October 5 at 5:30pm in PLZ308; Mandatory meeting for all Candidates If you are unable to attend you must send a replacement; the CRO the replacements contact information Preparation Week: October 8-12 (NO CAMPAIGNING) Campaign Period Open: Monday, October 15 9:00am Campaign Period Close: Thursday, October 25, 9:00pm Voting Days: October (voting closes at 9:00pm on the 25 th ) Budget: Due October 25 at 12pm, THIS IS MANDATORY Acknowledgement and Authorization I, (Name), being a candidate for the position of (Position Running For) of the Brock University Students Union, do acknowledge: That I am of the age of eighteen (18) years; That I am either a citizen of Canada, a landed immigrant, or hold the appropriate documentation that shows I am a registered undergraduate students at Brock University; That I have not been convicted of an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada; That I am not an undischarged bankrupt; That I am currently enrolled in at least 0.5 credits in the academic year at Brock University; That I currently hold a minimum 60% grade average which will be confirmed by the Registrar s office That I authorize the Brock University Students Union to verify all statements numbered above; Further, I agree to be bound by the rules of By-Law 400 of the Brock University Students Union and to abide by all decisions of the Chief Returning Officer.
