NCPAG ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS 2008 The NCPAG Alumni Achievement Awards (NCPAG AAA) aims to recognize and honor past and present members of the U.P. NCPAG Community, especially alumni, who have distinguished themselves in their respective careers, sectors and fields of practice. Highlighting their achievements confirms the status of the NCPAG as the premier centre of excellence for governance education and training. The recognition also highlights the crucial role of the U.P. NCPAG in moulding leaders and policy-makers not only for the country but the international community as well. The NCPAG AAA is one of the major events to celebrate the 56th Anniversary of the U.P. NCPAG in The awarding ceremonies will be held during the Annual Homecoming of the College on 15 June WHO MAY BE NOMINATED For the Outstanding Alumni Awards Category, nomination is open to all holders of academic degrees (BAPA, MPA, DPA) obtained from the U.P. National College of Public Administration and Governance (U.P.NCPAG) or from its institutional predecessors (i.e. Institute of Public Administration (IPA), the Graduate School of Public Administration (GSPA) and the College of Public Administration (CPA). Nominees for the Special Recognition Award Category is open to any person who has (1) underwent special training courses under the College; (2) earned at least 60 academic units for BAPA, or fifty percent of graduate unit requirements, and has not been dismissed for misconduct or scholastic deficiency; OR (3) a past or present member of the faculty or staff of the College. In both categories, the nominee should not have been a recipient of an Outstanding Alumni Award or its equivalent from the U.P. NCPAG or from the U.P. NCPAG Alumni Association. Nominees must have rendered outstanding service, exhibited a high degree of success, or distinguished themselves in their respective professions or fields of endeavour, and brought honor to the U.P. NCPAG community.

2 WHO MAY NOMINATE Any NCPAG alumnus, student, faculty or staff may nominate candidates for the NCPAG AAA. AWARD CATEGORIES 1. National Government Service Nominees must have rendered outstanding service in the national government bureaucracy, GOCC, Congress, the Judiciary, Constitutional bodies, the AFP and PNP, or have been responsible for innovative practices and programs in the national government consistent with public service values such as accountability, transparency, commitment to democracy, etc. 2. Local Government Service Nominees must have rendered outstanding service at the local level which includes provincial government, city government, municipal government, and barangay either as official or employee of the various local government executive units or sanggunian, or have been responsible for innovative practices and programs in the local government consistent with public service values such as accountability, transparency, commitment to democracy, etc. 3. Private Practice of Profession/Business Nominees must have exhibited a high degree of success in the practice of their profession (e.g., engineering, medicine, architecture, etc.), or in the management of their business firms. 4. Civil Society Organization/Community Service Nominees must have rendered outstanding service to the civil society organization he/she is affiliated with or to local community, to poor and disadvantaged sectors (e.g., children, handicapped, elderly, indigenous communities, etc.), or in areas where government or the private sector are unable to provide services. 5. Academic/Public Management Education

3 Nominees must have demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and extension in the field of Public Administration and Governance. 6. International Organization Service Nominees must have rendered outstanding service to international organizations, whether regional (e.g., ASEAN, ADB, UNESCAP, EU, etc.), or global (UN, UNICED, WTO, IMF, WB, etc.), which brought honor to the Philippines, and NCPAG. NOMINATION PROCESS There is a nine-member Search Committee for the U.P. NCPAG AAA composed of four representatives from the NCPAG faculty, four from the U.P. NCPA Alumni Association and the Dean of the College as Chairperson. The Dean can only vote in cases of stalemate among the other eight members of the committee. The Search Committee shall prescribe its own rules, regulations, guidelines and standards to be used in assessing potential awardees. It shall receive nomination, notify nominees, conduct preliminary screening, solicit supporting documents and determine the final list of awardees for the U.P. NCPAG AAA The nomination period shall be from 15 April 2008 to 31 May Nominations for the NCPAG AAA 2008 shall be made by the submission of ten (10) copies of the following documents to the Search Committee through the Office of the NCPAG Dean: Duly accomplished nomination form; Recent 2 x 2 photo of the nominee (attached to the nomination form); Most recent Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the nominee; Justification for Nomination (1-2 pages; signed by the nominator); and Supporting documents (news clippings, citations/certificates, publications, etc.), if any. The nomination documents may be filed by personal filing, courier service, regular mail, registered mail or electronic mail to up.ncpag@yahoo.com, copy furnished to ncpagaa@yahoo.com. For nomination by electronic mail, supporting documents may be scanned or in.jpeg,.tif,.pdf or similar format. The Search Committee shall ensure that any

4 submission by electronic mail shall be subjected to confirmation and validation. The expenses for the printing and photocopying of the electronically submitted documents shall be bourn by the nominator.
