1 TEMPLE UNIVERSITY STUDENT ORGANIZATION CONSTITUTION PREAMBLE The education of our youth, which holds our future, has already been receiving considerate attention from all over the world. Each country has different situations, but due to indifference and absence of proper guidance, youths have been neglected and have caused problems in society for many years, such as self-indulgence, deviance, crime, alcohol and drug abuse. The International Youth Fellowship (IYF) is an organization established by faithful believers, committed to working actively throughout the whole world for the Christian mission and educational guidance for those who will be leading our generation. ARTICLE I - NAME The name of this organization shall be International Youth Fellowship (IYF). ARTICLE II - PURPOSE The organization actively participates in helping students to overcome their sinful way of life with the power of spiritual life, and to exalt the will of God. The activities will not only be limited to Temple, but also to actively communicate and exchange information within the other institutes of higher learning in the United States and throughout the world in order to enhance their lives. Through gatherings in IYF Retreats, Bible studies, and other meetings, students learn about different cultures and create true friendship. ARTICLE III- MEMBERSHIP All registered students, faculty, and staff shall be eligible for voting members in the International Youth Fellowship club at Temple University. Voting members, in addition to Section 1, shall be designated in writing as those

2 persons who have attended regular meetings in an academic semester. Any individual, who does not attend Temple University but is willing to be a member of the organization may register and become a participant of IYF Club. Rejoining to the organization shall be approved by 2/3 of the voting members. ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS The officers of the organization shall be: a. A president b. A vice-president c. Secretary/Treasurer (May be one or two positions) All student voting members of the organization in average academic standing shall be eligible to hold office. The term of office for the officers of International Youth Fellowship shall be from fall of the regular academic year to the summer of the following year. The officers shall be elected by a majority of the voting members of the International Youth Fellowship at the annual elections held on the first week of fall session. Section 5. Vacancies of offices shall be elected by International Youth Fellowship (IYF) members. ARTICLE V - EXECUTIVE BOARD The Executive Board shall consist of the President, Vice-president, Secretary/Treasurer and the Faculty Advisor. All executive and legislative power granted herein shall be vested in the Executive Board. The Executive Board shall be empowered to recommend priorities for various

3 projects and to plan activities. ARTICLE VI - MEETINGS The regular meetings of the voting membership shall be held at least 4 a month. Special meetings of the organizations may be called by the President, or by the Executive Board, or upon the written requests of International Youth Fellowship members of the organization. A quorum shall be a 2/3 majority of the voting membership. ARTICLE VII - IMPEACHMENT & REMOVAL Officers may be impeached and, if convicted, removed from office by a two-thirds majority of the voting members on the basis of not fulfilling their duties as outlined in the Constitution and by-laws. Members may be impeached and, if convicted, may be expelled from membership by a two-thirds majority of voting members on the basis of not fulfilling the purposes of the organization. Advisors may be impeached and, if convicted, remove from their position by a twothirds majority of the voting members on the basis of not fulfilling their duties as described in the Temple University Faculty Handbook and the by-laws of this Constitution. Anyone in the club, including executive members and advisor, will be warned provided he/she is absent more than three times within a semester without any notification before hand. Section 5. Any individual may be removed from membership in case of following reasons: a. Being warned more than four times within a semester for violation of the constitution.

4 b. Disturbing the purpose of the organization. Section 6. Any individual who is impeached shall be given full notice of the allegations against him/her and shall have an opportunity to respond to it. Section 7. Any member of the organization may initiate impeachment proceedings. ARTICLE VIII- AMENDMENTS Amendments to this Constitution shall be proposed either by 2/3 of the Executive Board or by a petition submitted by ten percent of the voting members. A 2/3 majority of the voting members shall be necessary to approve amendments to this Constitution. Amendments to this Constitution shall be recommended through the Dean of Student Development and Provost and to the Dean of Academic and Student Services forapproval. ARTICLE IX - ACTIVE STATUS In order to maintain active status, the organization agrees to abide by those rules and regulations, including financial procedures, of Poly, which pertain to all student organizations. ARTICLE X - PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE Robert's Rules of Order (Revised) shall be parliamentary authority of this organization. Should Robert's Rules of Order conflict with this Constitution, this constitution takes priority. BY-LAWS ARTICLE I - DUTIES OF OFFICERS The duties of the president shall be to: a. Preside over all Executive Board and regular membership meetings b. Call all special meetings c. Sign all financial documents of the organization. (mandatory)

5 d. The President shall be the International youth Fellowship Club representative to the Student Activities Planning Board if applicable. The duties of the Vice-president shall be to: a. Succeed the President should the President for any reason be unable to carry out the presidential duties. b. Assist the president in administering the business of the International Youth Fellowship Club. The duties of Secretary/Treasurer shall be to: a. Take brief minutes of each meeting and take care of any major correspondence concerning the club as a whole. b. Keep a record of all financial and historical documents. The Treasurer shall submit all financial records to the Student Activities Accountant when required for audit. c. Turn in all financial records for re-issue to the new treasurer when required or appropriate. ARTICLE II - DUTIES OF ADVISOR A faculty advisor shall be appointed by a majority vote of the voting members. The advisor shall be a member of the Executive Board. The duties of the advisor shall be to: a. Attend Executive Board meetings and regular membership meetings. b. Counter-sign all administrative financial forms. (mandatory) c. Act as consultant for projects and special committees of the Temple University International Youth Fellowship Club. The advisor shall not have voting privileges in the organization.

6 ARTICLE III- ELECTIONS International Youth Fellowship (IYF) Club elections shall be held during the first weeks of the fall semester of each academic year. Candidates for office shall be eligible provided they have met the requirements for that office as stated in Article III of this Constitution. Candidates running for office shall be members in average standing of the International Youth Fellowship at the time of their election and during heir term of office. Other specific guidelines for the election procedure are left to the discretion of the organization. ARTICLE IV - FINANCES There are no dues, but any contributions or donation toward the club will be used for the club activities and will be counted as club earnings. Funds will be used for the operation of the International youth Fellowship as directed by a majority vote of the voting members. All finances shall be handled in accordance with the established policy and fiscal procedures in effect for the College as outlined in the Temple Administrative Services Procedures Manual. In the event of loss of organization recognition, any funds remaining in the organization's campus account shall revert to the Student Activity Fund or previously agreed upon charitable organization on or off campus.
