1 MASSACHUSETTS ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS 2018 OFFICER CANDIDATE APPLICATION This form is for individuals who wish to serve as a MAR officer, a MAR Director-At-Large or a NAR Director representing the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS. This form is for administrative purposes and CEO/EVP review only, and is not intended to serve as campaign material for those candidates running for MAR Officer, MAR Regional Representative, MAR Director-At-Large or NAR Director representing the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS. As such, MAR typically will not share this document with MAR Directors. All MAR Officer Applications must be submitted to MAR Headquarters by June 15 th, with a current hard-copy or digital photo attached. Candidates shall include with the application a list of signatures of 25% of MAR Directors. On or before June 30, the CEO/EVP shall review and determine whether candidates for MAR elective office have met all qualifications for the particular office. If there are no certified candidates for a given office, the CEO/EVP shall extend the application deadline for those offices only until July 15 then complete the certification process by July 31. During this period, the CEO/EVP shall notify the Executive Committee and Local Member Association Executive Officers. The CEO/EVP also shall be responsible for publishing the names of Certified Candidates and distributing campaign guidelines, as approved by the Board of Directors, to certified candidates for contested offices. All MAR Regional Representative and Director-At-Large Applications must be submitted to MAR Headquarters by June 15 th, with a current hard-copy or digital photo attached. Candidates shall include with the application a list of signatures of 25% of MAR Directors, for Regional Representatives 25% of its region s directors. During this period, the CEO/EVP shall notify the Executive Committee and Local Member Association Executive Officers. 8 MASSACHUSETTS ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTED OFFICES All candidates for MAR office must be current REALTOR members of MAR. Applications require signatures from 25% of MAR Directors except that Regional Representatives require 25% of MAR Directors from the respective region. Candidates for President-Elect and Treasurer also must have served as MAR Director within the past five (5) years. Treasurer must have been a member of the Finance Committee within the past five (5) years. (MAR Bylaws Article IV, Section 3) Candidates for Regional Representative also must hold Primary Membership in a Local Member Association within the respective geographic region as defined in MAR Bylaws; must have served either as a MAR Director or an officer of a Local Association within the past five years; and must have served on a MAR committee, work group, presidential advisory group or task force within the past five years. They serve for a term of two (2) consecutive elective years but not more than two consecutive terms. For purposes of staggering terms, some may initially serve for one year. Elected Regional Representative will serve on the Leadership Development Committee as current Representative and immediate past Representative. After certification, they are elected by the Directors holding membership within the respective geographic region. (MAR Bylaws Article V, Section 2 and 3) Candidates for MAR Director At Large also must have served either as a MAR Director or an officer of a Local Association within the past five years; and must have served on a MAR committee, work group, presidential advisory group or task force within the past five years. They serve for a term of two (2) consecutive elective years but not more than two consecutive terms. For purposes of staggering terms, two may initially serve for one year.
