UNIFORM PROVISIONS ONERNING THE PPROVL OF VEHILE LRM SYSTEMS (VS) ND OF MOTOR VEHILES WITH REGRD TO THEIR LRM SYSTEMS (S) 1 JNURY 1996 PROPOSL OF MENDMENTS TO REGULTION On 5 February 2002, the Secretary-General received from the dministrative ommittee of the above greement, pursuant to article 12 (1) of the greement, amendments proposed to the above Regulation. copy, in the English and French languages, of the document containing the text of the... proposed amendments is transmitted herewith (doc. The Secretary-General wishes to draw attention to article 12 (2) and (3) of the greement which read as follows: "2. n amendment to a Regulation will be considered to be adopted unless, within a period of six months from its notification by the Secretary-General, more than one-third of the ontracting Parties applying the Regulation at the time of notification have informed the Secretary-General of their disagreement with the amendment. If, after this period, the Secretary-General has not received declarations of disagreement of more than one-third of the ontracting Parties applying the Regulation, the Secretary-General shall as soon as possible declare the amendment as adopted and binding upon those ontracting Parties applying the Regulation who did not declare themselves opposed to it. When a Regulation is amended and at least one-fifth of the ontracting Parties applying the unamended Regulation subsequently declare that they wish to continue to apply the unamended Regulation, the unamended Regulation will be regarded as an alternative to the amended Regulation and will be incorporated formally as such into the Regulation with effect from the date of adoption of the amendment or its entry into force. In this case the obligations of the ontracting Parties applying the Regulation shall be the same as set out in paragraph 1. ttention: Treaty Services of Ministries of Foreign ffairs and of international organizations concerned.

2 (XI.B.16.97) Should a new ontracting Party accede to this greement between the time of the notification of the amendment to a Regulation by the Secretary-General and its entry into force, the Regulation in question shall not enter into force for that ontracting Party until two months after it has formally accepted the amendment or two months after the lapse of a period of six months since the communication to that Party by the Secretary-General of the proposed amendment." 12 February 2002 ttention: Treaty Services of Ministries of Foreign ffairs and of international organizations concerned.

4 TRNS/WP.29/835 page 2 nnex 9, amend to read: "nnex 9 ELETROMGNETI OMPTIBILITY Note: To test the electromagnetic compatibility, either paragraph 1. or paragraph 2. shall be used, depending on the test facilities. 1. METHOD ISO Immunity against disturbances conducted along supply lines pply the test pulses 1, 2, 3a, 3b, 4 and 5 according to the International Standard ISO :1990 to the supply lines as well as to other connections of VS/S which may be operationally connected to supply lines. VS/S in unset state The test pulses 1 through 5, shall be applied with a degree of severity. The required functional status for all applied test pulses shall be. VS/S in set state The test pulses 1 through 5 shall be applied. The required functional status for all applied test pulses are given in table 1. 5 TRNS/WP.29/835 Page 3 Immunity against radiated high frequency disturbances Testing of the immunity of a VS/S in a vehicle may be performed according to the prescriptions in Regulation No. 10, 02 series of amendments and test nethods described in annex 6 for the vehicles and annex 9 for a separate technical unit. Electrical disturbance from electrostatic discharges Immunity against electrical disturbances shall be tested in accordance with Technical Report ISO/TR Radiat.ed emission Tests shall be performed according to Regulation No. 10, 02 series of amendments prescriptions and according to the test methods described in annexes 4 and 5 for vehicles or annexes 7 and 8, for a separate technical unit. 2. METHOE IE Electromagnetic field The VPS/S shall undergo the basic test. It shall be subjected to the electiomagnetic field test described in IE Publication test -13 with a frequency range from 20 to 1000 MHz, and for a field strength level of 30 V/m. In addition, the VS/S shall be subjected to the electrical transient conducted and coupled tests described in the International Standard ISO 7637 Earts 1:1990, 2:1990 and 3:1993, as appropriate. Electrical disturbance from electrostatic discharges The VS/S shall undergo the basic test. It shall be subjected to testing for iirmunity against electrostatic discharge as described in either EN , or ISO/TR , at the manufacturer's choice. Radiated emissions The VS/S shall be subjected to testing for the suppression of radio frequency interference according to tests prescribed in Regulation No. 10, 02 series of amendments and according to test methods described in annexes 4 and 5 for vehicles and annexes 7 and 8 for a separate technical unit."
