2 Preamble Whereas we believe that a group of Minnesota State University, Mankato students interested in the field of Sport Management should organize for mutual benefit. Article I. Purpose & Objectives The purpose of Minnesota State University, Mankato Sport Management Club shall be: a. To operate the club on a sound financial basis of profit to increase value for our members, and create career opportunities and financial rewards for our members through scholarship. b. To promote camaraderie and togetherness among members of the club in order to create a fun atmosphere. c. To serve the community through various organized service activities that mutually benefits both members and community. Article II. Membership Membership shall be open to students interested in Sport Management and any other individuals that are approved by the Board of Directors. This organization accepts responsibility to ensure equal opportunity in all aspects of its programs for all qualified persons regardless of race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, marital status, family relationship, sexual orientation, previous political activity, previous criminal or civil record, student status, or any other class or group distinction as set forth be state or federal antidiscrimination laws. Article III. Board of Directors The Board of Directors shall be the faculty advisor, presidents, secretary, director of treasury and any other officers deemed necessary by the chapter. The Board of Directors shall be elected in the spring of each year to serve the following year. In the event that a Director cannot fulfill a full year term, additional elections may be held as deemed necessary by the Board. All elected officers shall be chosen by secret ballots, and nominations shall be made from the floor. The candidates receiving a plurality of all votes cast shall be elected. Any Board member or other elected officer who fails to fulfill the terms of office or to serve an agreed- upon official capacity may be removed. Such action shall be effective only upon a majority vote of Board of Directors taken at an official meeting for such purposes.

3 Article IV. Duties of the Executive Board of Directors The president s duties shall be to preside at all meetings, to prepare and submit meeting plans for the club to the advisor, serve as a leader of club members and students, and communicate and coordinate with faculty advisor Bryan Romsa. The vice president or co- president shall perform the duties of the president in the president s absence. In event of vacancy of the presidency, the vice president or co- president shall succeed to the presidency until a vote can be held. He/ she will also perform such related duties, as the president shall delegate. The secretary shall keep all records, except financial, handle written correspondence and be responsible for promoting the events and affairs of the collegiate chapter to the school and community. He/ she will also perform such related duties, as the president shall delegate. The director of treasury and membership shall collect all membership funds and deposit them in an account on behalf of the Minnesota State University, Mankato Sport Management Club. He/ she will be responsible for making all necessary expenditures when authorized by the president and faculty advisor, keeping financial records, and will submit a written financial report to the president at the last regular meeting for each quarter. He/ she shall check each membership application for accuracy, making sure all information requested is given. In accordance with the Club determined goals, he/ she shall conduct an active and aggressive membership campaign. He/ she will also perform such related duties, as the president shall delegate. Article V. Faculty Advisor The administration, or officers, shall appoint a faculty advisor who will be the person the administration can look to for information and/ or contacts. The Club may also seek assistance from the graduate assistants who will always help supervise the Sport Management Club. The faculty advisor and graduate assistants must be a helpful hand for the Club. The faculty advisor will be Bryan Romsa and he will be in this position until he resigns. In that case, the officers will appoint a new faculty advisor. The faculty advisor and graduate assistants may attend certain meetings called by the officers for the Club and any other meeting needed. They shall aid and advise the group on matters relating to the Club and its members. The faculty advisor and graduate assistants are essential for the continuity of records and other property of the club. The faculty advisor will keep the club information/binder in his/her office relay last year s information to next year s officers. Additional faculty may be asked to join the appointed faculty advisor whenever the officers see a need for additional faculty representation. Only one member of the

4 faculty may vote as a Board member as listed in That person being designated the faculty advisor. Article VI. Committees Section 5. Section 6. Section 7. There shall be the following Committees made up of Board members and Club members: The Board of Directors, the Operations committee, the Membership committee, the Sponsorship committee, and the Marketing and Sales committee. The Board of Directors is made up of elected officers and a faculty advisor. These members are expected to be knowledgeable, follow, and enforce the policies of the group as well as aid and advice. The Operations committee is responsible for planning, arranging, and doing fund raising events with the help of the other officers and club members. He/ she will also perform such other related duties, as the president shall delegate. The Membership committee is responsible for helping the director of Treasury and membership in any reasonable action asked. He/ she will also perform such other related duties, as the president shall delegate. The Sponsorship committee, under the supervision of the Director of Sponsorship and Advertising, shall work to gain sponsorships for the club and club fund raising events. He/ she will also perform such other related duties, as the president shall delegate. The Marketing and Sales committee, under the supervision of the Director of Marketing or the Director of Sales, shall be responsible for advertising club fund raising events and/ or community service activities the association is involved in. He/ she will also perform such other related duties, as the president shall delegate. The president or presidents shall appoint any other special committees as deemed necessary. Article VII. Records The records of Minnesota State University, Mankato Sport Management Club shall consist of minute s book, membership records, and financial records, as well as any other such records as the Club deems necessary.

5 Article VIII. By- Laws and Amendments The constitution, together with the By- Laws, shall constitute the operation basis of the Club. The Constitution may be amended by a majority vote of the members present, with proper notification having first been given to the entire membership. By- Laws of the Minnesota State University, Mankato Sport Management Club Minnesota State University, Mankato Sport Management Club dues shall be $20 per year or $15 per semester, paid to the director of treasury and membership. A copy of the Minnesota State University, Mankato Constitution shall be provided for each of the Board of Directors. The Constitution will be reviewed annually to ensure that it is in keeping with the needs and activities of the Club. The number, location, and times of the meetings shall be determined by the Board of Directors. Notice of all such meetings shall be posted or sent in writing to all members not less than five days in advance of the date set for the meeting.
