Randy Ewing, President of the Senate. PRESENT Mr. President Total 37 Total 2 The President of the Senate announced there were 37 Senators present and a quorum. Prayer The prayer was offered by Senator, following which the Senate joined in pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. Reading of the Journal On motion of Senator, the reading of the Journal was dispensed with and the Journal of yesterday was adopted. Morning Hour Rules Suspended Senator asked for a suspension of the rules for the purpose of invoking 5 minute cloture. Without objection, so ordered. Senate Concurrent Resolutions Returned from the House of Representatives with Amendments The following Senate Concurrent Resolutions returned from the House of Representatives with amendments were taken up and acted upon as follows: SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 8 BY SENATOR THEUNISSEN A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION To urge and request the Board of Regents to study the feasibility of establishing a separate, associate degree granting division of McNeese State University, or any other university as may request such study, to offer certificate and two-year programs of study, including workforce development programs and developmental education programs and parallel lower division programs for those students planning to transfer to four-year institutions. The resolution was read by title. SENATE BILL NO. 22 BY SENATOR LENTINI To enact R.S. 32:169(E) and (F), and 171(A)(5), (E), and (F), relative to railroad grade crossings; to require obedience to certain traffic signage at such crossings; to provide for prima facie evidence of failure to yield under certain circumstances; to require installation of warning devices by railroad companies pursuant to certain orders; to authorize installation of warning devices by railroad companies under certain conditions; and to provide for related matters.
