1 Kenya Youth for Sustainable Development Network (KYSD) "Kenya Youth beyond vision 2030"
2 WORD FROM THE CO-FOUNDER AND INTERIM NATIONAL CO-ORDINATOR Welcome to the Kenya Youth For Development Network where Kenyan Youth Where we ensure that Kenyan youth has the right of participation in decision making and policy formulation at all levels of the society by equipping youth with the necessary leadership skills and capability and to encourage youth to constructively engage the political class on issues affecting youth and those of National importance. In Kenya, there has been lack of provision of political leadership that makes Kenya a stable, prosperous, democratic and civilized modern state within the framework of rule of law, encouraging pluralistic democracy, regional, ethnic and gender inclusiveness with emphasis on principles of good governance, transparency and accountability in the management of public affairs. Most of the challenges Kenya Youth are facing today have been choreographed by many of the selfish leaders who have been governing this country since time in memorial. Kenya Youth For Sustainable Development Network is a non-political, non-religious or faith based, non- ethnic and non-regional network bringing all Kenyan Youth together with a mission of seeing a Nation; of society in which government and governance process are founded on the principles of democracy, justice, human rights, equality and accountability, of a governance structure that is all inclusive, representative and beneficial to all, and embraces principles of democracy and efficient management, of a balance leadership which will provide a well-adjusted approach and management style so much required for the future sustainable development of our Nation Kenya and its environ. Sustainable development can be achieved only through a person-centered approach to each of its social, economic, and environmental pillars, we therefore invite all Youth in Kenya, Africa and around the World who share the same conviction to join us in affirming this and give the agenda effect in public life at all levels. Welcome and feel free to contact us Hon David. O. Ochola Co-Founder/National Interim Coordinator Kenya Youth For Sustainable Development Network.
3 FORMATION Kenya Youth For Sustainable Development Network is a non-political, non-religious or faith based, nonethnic and non-regional network bringing all Kenyan Youth together with a mission of seeing a Nation: of society in which government and governance process are founded on the principles of democracy, justice, human rights, equality and accountability, of a governance structure that is all inclusive, representative and beneficial to all, and embraces principles of democracy and efficient management, and of a balance leadership which will provide a well-adjusted approach and management style so much required for the future sustainable development of our Nation Kenya and its environ. Having attended the African Emerging Leaders Conference held in Nairobi Kenya as from 29 th to 30 th August 2012 at Kenyatta International Conference Center organized by World Youth Alliance African Chapter, Kenyan delegation had the privileged to held a number of discussions with fellow delegates from Nigeria, Gambia, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Liberia, Cameroon, Republic of Southern Sudan, Somalia, South Africa and our invited guests from Newzealand. Kenyan delegation came to realization that there is an urgent need for the creation of The Kenya Youth For Sustainable Development Network with the representation from all the constituencies in Kenya. This comes in line with our clear need to ensure that Kenyan youth has the right of participation in decision making and policy formulation at all levels of the society by equipping youth with the necessary leadership skills and capability and to encourage youth to constructively engage the political class on issues affecting youth and those of National importance. Mission: To ensure youth participation in decision making and policy formulation at all levels of the Society."These we do by equipping them with the necessary leadership skills and capability and to encourage youth to constructively engage the political class on issues affecting youth and those of National importance. And to create political space and opportunities for youth in both elective and non-elective leadership positions including but not limited to acting as a lobby for youth agenda, rallying youth to a common cause and encouraging youth to stand up for true, selfless, transparent and accountable leadership." OUR PRIORITY: Upholding the dignity of the person as the primary goal of sustainable development and the means by which we create a sustainable nation. VISSION: We aspire to attain a Kenya in which the young people of this Country are an incapable part of the fabric of national leadership."the KYSDN will be led, youth based legislative organ whose main objective will be to harness the creative and collective aspirations of the Kenyan youth with a view to placing them at the forefront in defining the youth agenda as well as to shape and influence the direction and outcome of national debate and discourse on issues affecting the nation at large and the youth in particular."
4 OUR ROLE IN LEADERSHIP: Is geared towards ensuring the structured engagement of young people on issues of governance, leadership, human rights, peace, equity and equitable distribution of resources and opportunities across race, age, gender and religion. OUR OBJECTIVES: The objective of the Kenya Youth for Sustainable Development Network is investing in the people of Kenya in order to improve the quality of life for all Kenyans by targeting a cross-section of human and social welfare projects and programmes, specifically: Leadership engagement Education and training Health Environment Housing and urbanization Gender, children and social development Youth and sports BECOME A MEMBER Membership is FREE and open to all Youth aged 18years to 35 years who shared the same mission of ensuring youth participation in decision making and policy formulation at all levels of the Society.
