13 Tool #1: Mapping the Field of EU Studies in France (a) An academic directory of all political scientists (junior & senior) working on the European Union in France today Objectives: to favour networking and to help young scholars to identify the main communities and groups inthe field Method and means: Web-based data collection, completed by telephonic and face-to-face interviews Clustering of data and sub-fields classification of results (e.g. Public Policy )

14 Tool #1: Mapping the Evolution of EU Studies in France, (b) Assessing the reconfiguration of EUstudies in France ( crisis )? Objectives: to highlight the main research areas and trends structuring EU studies in France, and their evolution Method and means: compilation of journal articles published from 1997 to 2017 by French political scientists (FR/ENG) using web databases (WoS, Cairn) Mobilization of scientometric tools (co-authorship, network analysis, time-series.)

17 Tool #2: Videos Main objectives Sensitize the public opinion to the impact of EU policies on their daily lives (living and working conditions, environment, social and political rights, etc...) and to decision-making processes Underline the interest of social sciences to understand such processes, through theoretical and methodological controversies (inspired by the Seattle University MOOC Calling on Bullshit ) Contribute to the circulation of ideas regarding the topic European Union beyond national and disciplinary boundaries

18 Tool #2: Videos Process Researchers present their works in 2 minutes (first question, normative interest, angle of attack, surveyed case, methodology) Then in 1 minute, depending of the status Experienced reasearchers present a recent publication/work (anchoring of the review/book and main results) Junior researchers outline a salient topic linked with their fieldwork A particular attention will be payed to foreign researchers. English speaches will be subtitled

19 Tool #2: Future Tasks Mapping a first list of researchers who could be interesting and interested for the interview, in cooperation with the 1st tool team. Standardized mapping : who (research centre), what (research question),how (approach, methods), etc. Elaboration of toolkits to send to researchers who will do the videos Recruitment of new volunteers interested in digital communication. Each new volunteer will work independently with theresearcher he/she s in chargeof
