ARCHIVES Wayne State University has recently acquired a one-reel addition to the Raya Dunayevskaya Collection. The supplement is entitled "Raya Dunayevskaya's Last Writings, Toward the Dialectics of Organization and Philosophy," and contains notes for her unfinished book and her journalism on world events. Of special interest is her correspondence with non-marxist Hegel scholars George Armstrong Kelly, Louis Dupre, and A.V. Miller. The addition is available for $20 (US); the full 12,000 page collection, on six microfilm reels, is available for $120. For more information and ordering, contact Philip P. Kaiser Family Foundation permitting awards of up to $700 to cover travel and expenses related to research for scholars using the Archives. The grants are intended primarily for graduate students working on their doctoral dissertations and junior faculty needing financial assistance to pursue research projects. RESEARCH Historical sociologist Olivier Kourchid is setting up an international network of researchers in all disciplines working on coal miners and the coal mining industry in the past and present, with the aim of facilitating comparative work in the field. Kealey reported on correspondence with J.P. Wallot of the National Archives: re. request for consultation on archive acquisition policy and response, 17 July, He also reported on John Smart's work on the inventory of RG 27 (Department of Labour) which is nearing

VICE-PRESIDENT Peter DeLottinville expanded on the issue of the acquisitions policy, which is not yet finalized. However, there is a 60-page "Report" on priorities and archives planning he can make available to interested parties. Following discussion it was: M/S/C That the CCLH strike a sub-committee on archives to liaise with the NAC, chaired by Joanne Burgess. Look forward also to Peter's compendium on labour archives which will be forthcoming. Archivaria is projecting a second special issue on labour matters; those interested in contributing can contact Peter or Rod Young at 395 Wellington. ONTARIO PRIVACY ACT Dan Moore reported on this new legislation which, as it applies to municipal records, could be problematic to anyone doing systematic social history after For further information contact Ian Forsyth (PAO) or Mark Hopkins (Metro-Toronto Archives). Kealey submitted a detailed financial report that showed a small margin of revenues over expenses ($1,328.28). Adopted as presented with explanations of the line-by-line items. Please do not miss any opportunity you have to "boost" the journal, which will be happy to supply you with promotional materials. Thanks again to SSHRC and Memorial University Irene Whitfield in particular for their loyal support. Draft contents of issues 22 and 23 were also submitted. CCLH PUBLICATIONS A discussion of the CCLH publishing programme took place. A list of publications and planned publications in the area of documents, oral histories, conference proceedings, etc. (not monographs), was presented. Following discussion of these

7 LABOUR/LE TRAVAIL 389 very interesting initiatives it was: M/S/C That CCLH strike a publications sub-committee to give advice and counsel to the Editor in this area. Composition of the proposed sub-committee to be arranged by the editorial board who will report back at the next annual meeting. OTHER BUSINESS CONFERENCES The Australian-Canadian Conference Committee (Kealey, Seager, Bradbury, and Friesen) reported on the results of their work. About 50 proposals were received and 25 were accepted. Thanks to all who participated.
