Course aims and learning outcomes The course is aimed at introducing key notions and ideas of political theory to students in order to get a broad and nuanced perspective on issues of the real politics. The students are expected to boost their analytical skills and use political theory concepts in their research of political processes. Learning outcomes: By the end of this course students should be able to: understand different approaches to basic political theory concepts; discuss macro-political patterns and long-term trends; grasp differences and overlapping aspects of existing methodological research designs; understand interconnections between economic and political processes; evaluate interdependence of internal and external politics of states;
4 1.3. Course requirements and grading plan. Course requirements Students will be required to attend not less than 90% of classes and be prepared for class discussion. Conscientious reading of the assigned materials is compulsory. Grading plan Class participation 10% Students are expected to attend all the lectures and participate in class discussions; since the course In-class tests 30% Students should be prepared for three tests during the term. Dates of test classes are defined by instructor. Issue presentation 20% A student is expected to introduce one of important political theory problem at least once in the term. Final discussion 40%
