4 Thursday 8 March Venue: City Office, Stadsplateau workshop 1 workshop 2 workshop 3 Registration and welcome coffee Presentation of SAF candidacy by Arios Chryssafis, city commissioner of Solna Site visits and workshops (5 parallel workshops including site visits) Plan Einstein ( Refugee Launch Pad) Plan Einstein is an innovative asylum reception facility in the Overvecht district, which has been funded under the Urban Innovative Actions programme. Asylum seekers and residents live, learn and build their future together through English classes, entrepreneurship courses and individual coaching. During the session, participants will have the opportunity to meet the institutional partners in Plan Einstein: Dutch Council for Refugees, SOCIUS, Social Impact Factory, Centre for Entrepreneurship, Roehampton University and Oxford University. Workshop: How can cities work together with communities, asylum seekers and stakeholders to receive refugees and migrants in their city? With a focus on creating processes together with citizens, the workshop will discuss how to stimulate existing communities to interact with asylum seekers, how to ensure inclusive communication and how to handle bottom-up initiatives while working with vulnerable groups. This workshop is related to SDG 10 (reduced inequalities) and SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities). Moderator: Imara Antonius, EU project coordinator of Plan Einstein, - Niene Oepkes, project manager of Plan Einstein (U-RLP), - Jolien De Crom, project manager of Co-housing-CURANT, Antwerp - Birgit Wachter and Christoph Reinprecht, CORE project, Vienna Contributions from: - Nelida Hancco Herrera, finance officer, UIA secretariat - Raffaele Barbato, project coordinator of UIA secretariat - Dani de Torres, UIA expert Place2BU a co-housing project Place2BU is a co-housing project that offers housing to people transitioning to autonomous living, like young people who just finished their studies, asylum seekers with residence permits and people moving from homelessness shelters, youth care institutions or sheltered housing. Workshop: How to build an inclusive city through a new housing project? During the workshop, participants will exchange experiences related to social engineering, community building and place-making. The focus is on creating processes together with citizens and related to SDG 3 (good health and well-being) and SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities). Moderator: Haye Folkertsma, - Kees Diepeveen, deputy mayor of - Willem Smid, policy advisor, - Stijn Geljon, community builder at Place2BU, poverty approach and blockchain technology poverty approach and blockchain technology is an example of how the city is working together with its citizens to find innovative ways to improve the conditions of people at risk of poverty (SDG 1 no poverty). Workshop: How can cities develop a local poverty reduction policy together with citizens? The workshop will look at the City Deal Inclusive City where a pilot was developed in partnership with the national tax office to help prevent people falling further into poverty. During the workshop, participants will also learn about how the city is piloting a blockchain technology to reduce administrative burden on residents. 5 workshop 4 Foodgarden Overvecht Foodgarden Overvecht is a bottom-up initiative, which saw a group of active residents decide to create a sustainable food chain in their neighbourhood (Overvecht) by developing a food garden. Not only does the garden do this but it also serves an important social function, providing a meeting place for residents from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. Workshop: How can a city develop a sustainable food chain by involving residents? Participants will explore ideas of how city authorities can support healthy, sustainable and inclusive bottom-up initiatives like neighbourhood food gardens and how to involve all members of the community, including asylum seekers. The focus will be on exploring how to create these initiatives together with residents in line with SDG 10 (reduced inequalities), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production). Moderator: Annemarie Gout, policy advisor, - Marthe van Laarhoven, policy advisor, workshop 5 Children s Rights City Children s Rights City is a process created together with citizens where the city works together with children and local actors (schools, NGOs, educators) with the aim to become a Children s Rights City. This initiative aims to reduce child poverty (SDG 1) and ensure equal access to quality education (SDG 4). This session will include a Children s Rights walk through the city Centre, which is offered by Amnesty International. Workshop: How can cities develop local policies together with children? Participants will exchange their experiences with children and youth participation, with a focus on conflict prevention and debt awareness. will present its Peaceful Schools Approach where schools work with children mediators, and the local Debt Awareness Project, which was designed with the help of young people in the city.
