1 AMERICAN IMMIGRATION LAWYERS ASSOCIATION This two-day conference is designed to help paralegals and law office support staff provide more effective assistance to their supervising attorneys. It offers an overview of basic immigration law and procedure. Faculty will review and discuss the paralegal s role with regard to key legal and factual issues, forms, and spotting potential issues. In addition, the faculty will focus on H-1B visas, PERM, adjustment of status vs. consular processing, family-based immigrant petitions, asylum and removal, applications for citizenship or naturalization, and ethics. The course includes panel discussions of cutting-edge topics like same-sex marriage, provisional waivers, DACA, CIR, marketing, and social media. There is a question and answer period following each session, allowing attendees to interact with faculty and gain further insight into this complex and challenging area of law. In addition, practicums will follow the majority of panels to give a detailed review of completing forms. Viewing Options: On October 24-25, 2013, we will present two days of live workshop sessions. Attend these sessions inperson at the AILA National Office (space is limited) or from the convenience of your home or office via webcast. Either way, the program is live and interactive! All participants will be given a link to the conference recording so that you can revisit sessions back in the office, watch any session you might need to miss especially helpful for those who want to participate from the West Coast.
