"AGPS Condemns Deadly Offensives on Palestinians Sheltered in Daraa, Calls for Saving Wounded Civilians" 3 Palestinian Refugees Killed in Daraa Syria s Anti-Gov t Forces Declare Daraa Camp and Environs Disaster Zones Overnight Clashes between ISIS and Jaysh AlIslam Rock Yarmouk s Outer Edges UNRWA Announces Intention to Initiate Reconstruction of Palestinian Refugee Camps in Syria Palestinians from Syria Receive Certificates in Programming from Dutch Organization
Victims Three Palestinian refugees were killed in the raging Syrian warfare. Ahmed Ali AlSabarouji, a resident of AlMuzeireeb town, was pronounced dead on Monday in violent clashes between the opposition battalions and the government troops near the Air Force Intelligence facility, east of Daraa Camp. 30-year-old Ahmad Ali Abdullah, from the AlSabarjah family, and Marwan Sa oud Falih, succumbed to wounds inflicted by a deadly shelling on Daraa camp for Palestinian refugees a couple of days earlier. Latest Developments AGPS condemns, in the strongest terms, the deadly onslaughts targeting Palestinian refugee camps and the incessant human rights violations perpetrated against the Palestinian refugee community in war-ravaged Syria. AGPS calls on all warring actors to observe international laws and treaties and to cease offensives on the displaced civilians and refugees in and around Daraa city. AGPS calls for neutralizing civilians and granting paramedics a safe passageway into the area so as to evacuate the victims and treat the wounded persons. AGPS urges the international community and UNRWA to assume their duties vis-à-vis the ongoing crisis, to work on providing Palestinian
refugees with the physical and legal protection needed to survive warfare, and to pressurize all warring parties to keep Palestinian camps and communities at bay from the rampant hostilities. AGPS further appeals to the Palestinian Authority, chaired by Mahmoud Abbas, and the Palestine Liberation Organization, along with the Islamic and national parties, to take up their historical responsibility regarding the Palestinian Diaspora. AGPS is deeply concerned over the tragic situation in Daraa due to the unabated shelling and air strikes launched by the Syrian government army on opposition-led zones using internationally-prohibited weapons, including napalm grenades, cluster bombs, and explosive barrels. As a result, 80% of civilian buildings and facilities have been razed to the ground. Offensives rocking Daraa city since the outburst of the Syrian warfare claimed the lives of 375 Palestinians sheltered in the area. The majority of civilians fled Daraa Camp in the hunt for a safer shelter. UNRWA facilities in the camp also sustained heavy material damage.
Meanwhile, Free Daraa Council declared the city and the surrounding villages disaster areas. A statement by Daraa Council declared AlYadouda, AlNueima, Umm AlMayadhen, Daraa AlBalad, AlSadd Road, and Daraa Camp disaster areas due to the heavy damage inflicted by the escalated offensives launched by the Syrian government forces and their war abettors. The infrastructure was remarkably devastated while all field hospitals have gone out of operation. In the meantime, clashes flared up at predawn time on Tuesday between ISIS and Jaysh AlIslam in Yarmouk Camp after ISIS fighters detonated a heavy explosive device in AlBasatin area, between Yalda and AlHajar AlAswad (AlZein neighborhood). Residents of Yarmouk Camp have been on tenterhooks in anticipation of the fallouts of recent negotiations between the Syrian government and ISIS in an attempt to force the latter to retreat from southern Damascus to its stronghold in AlRiqa.
In another development, Syria s Minister of State for National Reconciliation Affairs, Ali Haidar, said, during a meeting with the head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) office in Syria, Mohammed Adar, that the government has taken a decision to return the locals who were displaced from AlSbeina area, in Rif Dimashq, to their homes. According to Haidar, the reason for the delay lies in the presence of armed militias on the outskirts of the area. He added that efforts have been ongoing to address the situation and rehabilitate the infrastructure. UNRWA s head of Syria office, Mohammed Adar, said the agency is ready to provide the necessary support to reconstruct Palestinian refugee camps and rehabilitate the infrastructure, which includes schools, hospitals, and services for the refugees, so as to smooth civilians safe return to their homes. In the meantime, four Palestinian students from Syria in the Netherlands received certificates in electronics programming from Restart organization.
Palestinians enrolled in the 2017 program received their diplomas with honors. The graduates will be granted trainings and internships with Restart Initiative sponsors, including Google and Facebook. Palestinians of Syria: June 13, 2017 Statistics: At least 3,514 Palestinians, including 463 women, were killed in war-torn Syria. 1,603 Palestinian refugees, including 99 women, are incarcerated in Syrian government lock-ups. Yarmouk refugee camp has been blockaded by the Syrian regime army and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command (PFLP-GC) for 1,422 days in a row. 196 Palestinians died of undernourishment and medical neglect in the blockaded Yarmouk Camp. Water supplies cut off in Deraa and Yarmouk camps respectively for 1,157 and 1,008 days. Residents of Handarat Camp, in Aleppo, denied access to their homes for 1,501 days. Government battalions have been holding sway over the camp for more than 235 days. Nearly 85,000 Palestinian Syrian refugees fled to Europe until the end of ,000 Palestinians from Syria are housed in Lebanon. 17,000 Palestinians from Syria are taking refuge in Jordan. 6,000 Palestinian-Syrian refugees are sheltered in Egypt. 8,000 Palestinian-Syrian refugees are taking shelter in Turkey. 1,000 Palestinian-Syrian refugees are sheltered in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
