Residence and Work Permit Nordic Citizens No residence or work permit required EU Citizens No residence and work permit required, but an EU residence certificate. Non EU Citizens Residence and work permit required (if longer than 3 months). Apply at Regional State Administration Apply at Danish Embassy before arrival If not contact Foreign Police 3
Residence and Work Permit Cancellation of residence and work permit if you do not stay in Denmark Apply for dispensation if you stay outside Denmark for longer than six months. Apply BEFORE you leave Denmark Renewal of residence and work permit if your permit expires You MUST extend your residence permit BEFORE expiry. Submit application to the Immigration Service or the local police. 4 month residence permit after submission of PhD thesis Contact the IC staff mobility unit 4
Citizens Services / Registration Register at Citizens Service immediately after arrival or when EU residence certificate has been granted Bring: Residence permit, passport/id card and documentation of civil status Notify Citizens Service if you change your address in Aarhus Notify Citizens Service no later than 5 days before leaving Denmark 5
Citizens Services / CPR number CPR number = Public health service When registering you also apply for a national security number (CPR number) After few weeks you receive the National Security card (sygesikringsbevis) which gives the right to medical treatment free of charge (not home transport) Dental treatment is subsidized (you only pay part yourself) CPR Number: needed to go to the doctor, to open bank account, to register for Danish courses, to get a library card. 6
Tax Registration (SKAT) When you have your CPR-number Choose a bank, get a NEM-konto (Easy account) and register with e-boks Register at SKAT (bring passport and letter of employment/work contract) When leaving: Keep your NEM-konto when you leave or inform SKAT about your new account Notify SKAT about time of departure and your new address abroad Jens Kristian Birthin from AU HR will inform you about the different tax schemes. 7
International Citizen Service Center International staff can meet all relevant authorities and register with Citizens Services Aarhus, SKAT and State Administration for Central Jutland in the International Citizen Service Centre in Aarhus. Opening hours: Thursday 15-17 and Friday 11-13 Nordhavnsgade 4-6 8000 Århus C. 8
Doctors If you need to see a doctor before you have received your CPR number you can contact the IC and we will refer you to a doctor. Outside regular working hours, call the after hours doctor: Region Central Jutland, 7011 3131 Phone consultation with a doctor from 8-9 am Phone consultation and getting an appointment from 9 am- 4 pm 9
Insurances Third-party insurance/ liability insurance (ansvarsforsikring) Accident insurance (ulykkesforsikring) Home insurance (indboforsikring) Large insurance companies: TRYG, Alm Brand Forsikring and Top Danmark have homepages in English Students (before Master s degree): you are eligible for student discounts 10
Bank account If salary from Denmark you need to open a bank account Bring: CPR number, passport and work contract Designate an account as your Nem Konto (Easy Account) Get a Visa/Dankort 11
Payslips What is e-box? Online archive for your pay slip, bank statements, pension statements etc. Both public and private companies have signed up to send their statements via e-boks.
