Source A Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (NIHRC) After the Good Friday Agreement was signed in 1998 the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (NIHRC) was established. The Commission s role is to promote awareness of the importance of human rights in Northern Ireland, some of these human rights are included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The NIHRC reviews existing law and practice and advises the government on what steps need to be taken to fully protect human rights in Northern Ireland.
