October 22, 2018 Spirit Week & House Decorating Today, we launched into Spirit Week, a weeklong celebration that culminates in Homecoming! This morning started off with Principal Stewart escorting a group of visiting principals to judge our House Decorating Contest. After carefully considering the development of the individual themes and the creativity of the designs in each house, they pronounced the winner. South 2, representing Michelangelo s Masterpieces, takes the crown and reigns supreme in 2018! Today is also our first dress-up day of the week: Decades Day. Check out some photos on page 9. Tomorrow is Meme Day. How will you make satire your school attire? See page 10 for remaining theme days. Be creative and have fun, but be sure to choose schoolappropriate attire! Friday will be a BIG day for our Wolves. The Homecoming Parade starts at 1:45 PM, followed by a Pep Rally back on campus. The football game begins at 7 PM at Butler Stadium. The grand finale of Spirit Week is the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, from 8-11:30 PM in the Commons. Page 2 Wolf enews Homecoming Dance Tickets One of the highlights of our Homecoming celebration is the dance; Renaissance Romance, on Saturday, October 27th from 8-11:30 PM in the Commons. Tickets will be sold during lunch this week for $20 per person. Only cash will be accepted. The ticket price includes entry and refreshments. Contracts are required for all attendees. Page 3 Wolf Band Wins Silver at Prairie View The Wolf Band took silver at Prairie View A & M University Marching Contest on Saturday, receiving special awards for Outstanding Music, Color Guard, Percussion, and Soloist. The Westside community is cordially invited to go out and support them tomorrow night, October 23, at 7 PM at the UIL Marching Competition at Legacy Stadium in Katy. Go Wolves!

Page 4 Wolf enews PSAT on Wednesday On Wednesday, October 24th, all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will take the PSAT test. Students should get a good night s rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive on time for school. Allstudents must wear their school ID on a lanyard around their neck. They should bring at least one sharpened #2 pencil (mechanical pencils are not allowed). Students may bring their own calculator, but a calculator is not required to take the test. Please note, electronic devices are strictly prohibited, including cell phones and smart watches. If a students brings such a device to class, they will be collected by the test administrator and returned at the end of testing. If an electronic device goes off during testing or is not turned in to the test administrator, the device will be confiscated for two weeks. The incident will be reported to the College Board, which may result in an unscored test. If you have any questions, please contact our Testing Coordinator, Schandra Holloway: scomeaux@houstonisd.org October 24 Class of 2019 Senior Portraits Legacy Studios will be on campus this Saturday for Senior Portrait appointments. Photographers will be set up in the Auditorium. Please park in the front and enter through the Auditorium doors next to the parking lot. If you try to enter through the courtyard doors, you will be redirected. The dance decorating committee will be in the Commons, and the Auditorium will not be accessible from this area of the school.
