The Preliminary conference schedule and topics, which includes suggestions from you, our users, is listed below. Whether you are responsible for funding GIS application development and implementation, managing the GIS Enterprise or developing applications with GeoSmart.net, we feel the conference offers something for everyone. WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND The first annual MoosePoint Technology User s Conference will be held April 3rd and 4th, 2008 at the Sonoma Valley Inn, located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley, the birthplace of California and one of the world s premier winemaking regions. A single pre-conference day of training will be held on April 2 nd, 2008. What you can expect The user conference will provide a unique opportunity to learn about: GeoSmart.net 6.0 The latest release of our flagship product is another dramatic leap forward into Web 2.0. We ve listened to your request for enhancements. With a dramatically updated user interface and significant performance improvements, many user-requested features have been incorporated into this release. Learn about the many things that are new and where GeoSmart.net is headed. New TerraWeave Mapping Framework Our new mapping framework greatly expands the reach of GeoSmart.net. Capitalizing on your current investment in GeoSmart.net, ArcIMS and ArcSDE, TerraWeave allows you to weave together maps from many additional data sources including ArcGIS Server, Google, Yahoo, Virtual Earth, SQL Server 2008, KML, and GeoRSS. New and Enhanced GeoSmart.net Smart Solutions We ve added new solutions for Public Works and Vineyard Management plus an enhanced version of My Neighborhood is now available. Hear what additional solutions are being considered and contribute your own. GeoSmart.net and TerraWeave Software Development Kit For those users new to development in GeoSmart.net, we offer a high level introduction to our core development tools during the main conference. For users with some programming background and experience using our SDK, we offer a pre-conference training opportunity. GeoSmart.net Tools, Tips, and Tricks Learn tips and handy features from your fellow GeoSmart.net users and MoosePoint staff. Get your technical questions answered by Dr. Moose. If you are new to GeoSmart.net or need a refresher in using the GeoSmart.net Management Portal, plan to attend the pre-conference training. User and Partner Stories GeoSmart.net users will share their experiences implementing GIS solutions using GeoSmart.net. Come share your own stories. Moosepoint and our partners will present work from key strategic partnerships important to our user community.
PRE-CONFERENCE TRAINING Wednesday, April 2 nd, 2008 We have a single day of training planned on Wednesday, April 2nd. Two training tracks will be offered, subject to enrollment: GeoSmart.net Portal Training David Hayden, Instructor David Hayden is the support and installation guru at MoosePoint. He is the go to guy for all things support, and when you have a question, Taz is the voice that answers. He is the lead installer of GeoSmart.net and provides Portal training for every installation. During this session David will reprise his award winning GeoSmart.net Enterprise Training class. He will walk through the essential aspects of creating a GeoSmart.net site, connecting to external data sources, creating custom queries, and a wealth of other topics that are critical for maximizing the use of GeoSmart.net in a customer environment. This session is recommended for those who have never had training before on GeoSmart.net, for managers or supervisors who need a view of how GeoSmart.net can be used to help their organizations, or for those who have been using GeoSmart.net for a while and want to refresh their skills. Under the covers with the GeoSmart.net Software Development Kit Louie Rowley, Instructor Louie Rowley has been a senior developer at MoosePoint for over 3 years. He has been responsible for developing the My Neighborhood and Road Work Ahead applications based on GeoSmart.net, and has given numerous training sessions to MoosePoint customers both in the installation and maintenance of GeoSmart.net as well as how to use the GeoSmart.net SDK for writing custom applications. Louie will present an advanced look at the inner workings of the SDK and how to extend the out-of-thebox GeoSmart.net functionality. Topics will include HTML, JavaScript and Ajax, Visual Basic.net, and the GeoSmart.net Software Developer s Kit (SDK). This session will present a start-to-finish extension to GeoSmart.net, providing a view into how to make your GIS websites do things that you could never imagine. At the end of the session, you will walk away with a fully functional GSN extension. Due to the material presented, this course is recommended for advanced programmers.
PRELIMINARY CONFERENCE SCHEDULE Welcome Reception Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 Join the MoosePoint staff for a hosted Welcome Reception on April 2, 2008, at 7:00 PM. Be part of building a thriving GeoSmart.net community with fellow users. Opening Session Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 The opening session will provide you with a look at some of the features of the new GeoSmart.net version 6, our new mapping framework TerraWeave, and a view of where we see the technology going in the future. Evening Social Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 Let down your hair and join the MoosePoint staff for wine tasting and a catered dinner. We ll have a sampling of fine wines from the Sonoma Valley, and maybe a winemaker or two for you to talk to about things other than GeoSmart.net. Closing Session Friday, April 4th, 2008 Wrapping up our two days of interaction, we ll spend our last hours together in a free-form discussion, answering any questions that may remain unanswered.
