I reside on Keswick very near that intersection and would like to ensure the safety of the individuals that use the crosswalk. Thank you for your time. Kind regards, Regina Shrope 480-221-1888

i LA GEECS Richard Williams <richard.williams@lacity.org> Stoplight at Amestoy & Saticoy Claire Mills <kidsmusicbyclaire@gmail.com> To: richard.williams@lacity.org Thu, Apr 27, 2017 at 8:56 PM Dear Richard, I am a Lake Balboa resident, living at 7901 Ostrom Avenue and am writing to convey my support of a stoplight at Amestoy & Saticoy in my neighborhood. My family of 4, including an 8 year-old and a 5 year-old, often walk to Ralph's and use that cross walk. It is very dangerous! A stoplight would be an excellent use of city funding, and our neighborhood would be so grateful. I know that Saticoy came up as one of the streets with the highest incidents of traffic and pedestrian collisions in a recent report, and this would directly address the issue. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any questions. Thank you, in advance, for your attention to this matter. Best regards, Claire Mills Lake Balboa resident at 7901 Ostrom Avenue kidsmusicbyclaire@gmail.com

It is necessary, and will help the neighborhood with a safe crossing. Thank you. Mrs. Pat Herson 7952 Amestoy Avenue Van Nuys

To: No money has been allocated in the 2017-2018 L.A. City budget for signal installation. Dept, of Transportation will present their budget to the L.A. Council THIS MONDAY, our Councilwoman Nuri Martinez is willing to push on the issue to prioritize traffic safety in order to help us get funding for a stoplight at the intersection of Amestoy and Saticoy. A show of support from our Neighborhood Watch community will give her a much better chance to make this happen. Please send the following email or your own statement of support to richard.williams@lacity.org: PUBLIC COMMENT. (l)(we) advocate for Measure M's local return money be spent on projects like signal installations to make our communities safer. Street reconstruction can be done with California's new gas tax money instead of both funding sources.

The tree in front of my house just exploded, dropping two or three branches. Do I need to say more... From: <lauren.padick@lacity.org> Sent: Thu, Apr 27, 2017 10:00 am I understand, I was notified that same day at about 4 pm, thus the late notice. However, I will try in the future to get more advance notice for hearings of this nature. On Thu, Apr 27, 2017 at 9:57 AM, Nancy Blumstein <btcfilms@aol.com> wrote: Hi Lauren, Thanks for the information about the neighborhood watch and the budget meeting. I'm glad you were able to submit a request regarding the trees. It's unfortunate that I couldn't help bolster your request, but I'm sure you understand that letting me know at 4:30 PM about a meeting for 9:00AM the following morning would make it entirely unlikely that I could attend, and even if I'd had time to draft a considered comment, I would guess that Mr. Williams would not have had time to include it. Best, -Nancy From: <lauren.padick@lacity.org> Sent: Wed, Apr 26, 2017 4:31 pm I've attached the flier for the neighborhood watch next month. Also, I have sent our legislative deputies my request for more funding for Urban Forestry- specifically for removal of dead trees. There will be a hearing at City Hall's Council Chambers on the Mayor's proposed budget for the the Bureau of Street Services, including Urban Forestry Division, tomorrow at 9 am. They have encouraged anyone who wants this funding to please come to the hearing and make a public comment, or submit a public comment by email to the City Clerk's Legislative Assistant at richard.williams@lacity.org. Below is the Council Agenda for all the budget hearings in case you're interested, or would like to share with your neighbors. http://ens.lacity.org/clk/committeeagend/clkcommitteeagend18111193_04262017.html On Thu, Apr 20, 2017 at 4:10 PM, <lauren.padick@lacity.org> wrote:

The City Clerk and City Attorney's office handle claims like that, however, if the person has any issues with how their claim is handled please feel free to give them my information sol can follow up with them. We do have a neighborhood watch next month, however, I will be out of the country that weekend so my supervisor, Lynda Levitan, is going in my place. The meeting will be May 13th, at 10 am at Mary's home. I will be making a flier and sending it out to the neighborhood. As soon as I have the flier ready, I will also email you a copy so you can send it to anyone you know might be interested:) I appreciate you keeping me up to date on everything. I know the Mayor just released his proposed budget today, so I will be following up on what impact it will have for West Valley Urban Forestry Division. On Thu, Apr 20, 2017 at 9:11 AM, Nancy Blumstein <btcfilms@aol.com> wrote: Hi Lauren, I understand another couple of large tree limbs fell while I was out of town and one damaged the roof of a car. I expect you may have already gotten the insurance claim. FYI the limb that damaged the car was not from a tree that the city had marked for removal. The insurance claims from tree damage will soon be more than the cost of tree removal. I don't understand the city's willingness to pay insurance claims, but not prevent damage, which could one day be catastrophic. I understand a neighborhood watch meeting has been set for next month, although I haven't received any official notice as of yet. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to get the word out. I spoke to Mary and she thinks she accidentally deleted your e-mails. If you could please resend she will be sure to look out for them. Thanks again, -Nancy- From: <lauren.padick@lacity.org> Sent: Thu, Mar 16, 2017 11:05 am I've sent several emails to Michael, but haven't heard back yet. Is there any other way to reach him? I would really like to help organize a neighborhood watch for your area given the complaints Marcos and I heard when we met with you and the homeowners on your street.

Also, still waiting on the Mayor's proposed budget to be released, we're hearing it will come out sometime late April. On Thu, Mar 2, 2017 at 9:49 AM, Nancy Blumstein <btcfilms@aol.com> wrote: Good Morning Lauren, I look forward to hearing about the Mayor's budget and if insufficient funds are allotted, I'll look forward to hearing councilmember Martinez's counter proposal. I would like to point out that very large branches have fallen from trees not on the list below. Best, -Nancy- From: <lauren.padick@lacity.org> Sent: Tue, Feb 28, 2017 2:30 pm So I spoke with the arborist at Urban Forestry about the trees on your street. He confirmed the arrows are for utilities, in case the trees are removed. However, he said all of them are currently backlogged for removal. He could not give me an estimate on when they will be removed. He did, however, let me know which ones are dead: 7044, 7056, 7106, 7112, 7113, and 7118. The Mayor will be releasing his budget proposal for the next fiscal year near the end of April, as soon as I hear what has been allotted for tree removal I will let you know. On Tue, Feb 21, 2017 at 9:24 AM, Nancy Blumstein <btcfilms@aol.com> wrote: Good Morning Lauren, I noticed that someone painted three arrows on our street pointing at three of our most dead trees and one is mine. Hooray! I'll let you know when they finally come down. Hopefully, next year's budget will cover many more of them as large branches continue to fall. I'm copying in my next door neighbor Mary, who you met when you visited. Her son Patrick is interested in heading up the neighborhood watch and asked that we contact him through Mary's e-mail. I'd be glad to help get the word out, but I think Patrick would be a better lead for this project. Thanks again for your help, -Nancy- From: <lauren.padick@lacity.org> Sent: Wed, Feb 15, 2017 11:04 am Hi Nancy! Yes, to announce on next door would be great! Also, has Officer Parra set a date with you for the neighborhood watch? If not, let's plan a date for March and we will ask her to attend. On Wed, Feb 15, 2017 at 10:59 AM, Nancy Blumstein <btcfilms@aol.com> wrote: Hi Lauren, I'm copying in my neighbor's son Michael who will probably be helping with the damage claim.

Also, I've attached some information I found on my door about "Nextdoor" that I thought might be of interest to you. I'm not one much for social media, but do you think it might be useful for announcing the neighborhood watch. Best, -Nancy- From: <lauren.padick@lacity.org> Sent: Mon, Feb 13, 2017 10:48 am Definitely! Do they know where to file the claim? Best contact for them to reach out to would be the Clerk's office, as they are the ones who process the claims. On Mon, Feb 13, 2017 at 10:47 AM, Nancy Blumstein <btcfilms@aol.com> wrote: Good Morning Lauren, It would be fine if you share my number with Urban Forestry. In the mean time, I planned to write you today in any case. Over the weekend a large branch fell next door (7038) and damaged a truck. I expect they will be filing a claim soon. I'ave asked them to send me photos to forward to you, but I haven't gotten them yet. Best, -Nancy- From: <lauren.padick@lacity.org> Sent: Mon, Feb 13, 2017 9:02 am Do you mind if I share your phone number with Urban Forestry so that when they inspect these trees, they may contact you if they have any questions?
