OLD BUSINESS 3.1 Marketing Plan Report Colwood Chronicles (8100-20-STJ-18416) The Commission discussed the Marketing Plan Report for the Colwood Chronicles that was done by the Marketing class at Royal Roads University. Bill suggested that it may be ideal to do a collage of photos for the book. The addition of a map showing historic sites in Colwood was discussed being added to the book. The Commission discussed the following: regional tourism market, the addition of a memorial page; distribution to Bed & Breakfasts and marketing ideas. MEMBER MARCY LALANDE That a letter of appreciation be sent to each of the Royal Roads students that created the Marketing Plan Report. The Commission discussed having an advertising piece created for the tribute/memorials on the website. There was discussion about having a paypal account created to allow people to purchase on line. 3.2 Colwood Chronicles Publication COUNCILLOR CYNTHIA DAY That Noreen Dennis start the production of the Colwood Chronicles at her earliest convenience advise the Commission on possible pages such as memorial / tribute and how they could be incorporated into the book. 3.3 Stain Glass Window Councillor Day informed the Commission that St. Johns Committee are working on having a stain glass window created for the Church in time for the Centennial Celebration. They Committee are working on a design with Debrady Glass. The St. John the Baptist Management Committee decided that they will go with Debrady Glass and it is anticipated that the cost will be approximately $2,500 depending on the final selected design. Councillor Day informed the Commission that Debrady has guaranteed that the work will be completed prior to the Centennial event and should be in place in mid-august at the latest. COUNCILLOR DAY That a maximum of $4,500 be approved for the Creation and installation of a new stain glass window at St. John the Baptist Heritage Church through Debrady Glass. 2.1. Page 4 of 5
Minutes of the Heritage Advisory Commission June 12, 2013 Page # 3 3.4 Ramp Project for St. John the Baptist Heritage Church Councillor Shari Lukens provided an overview on the ramp project at St. John the Baptist Heritage Church. She has been soliciting local businesses to look for financial/in-kind assistance for the project. To ensure that the work is done prior to the Centennial the St. John the Baptist Management Committee made a motion to approve a maximum of $4000 towards costs associated with the construction. It is not anticipated that all the funds will be required to construct the ramp, but the Committee wanted to ensure that there were no delays having to wait for financial approval MEMBER PHIL WILLIAMS That a maximum of $4,000 from the St. John the Baptist Reserve Fund be allotted towards the building permit and construction of the ramp at St. John the Baptist Heritage Church. 4. NEW BUSINESS 4.1. Goldstream Museum Society Committee Discussion The Commission discussed concerns about the Goldstream Museum Society collection. Most of the materials have been packed and stored and some remain at the WestShore Chamber of Commerce site. The Commission will contact the Goldstream Museum Society and start conversations on assisting with the collection to ensure that it is safe. 5. NEXT MEETING The next Heritage Advisory Committee meeting be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013 or at the call of the chair. 6.
