Operational activities of the United Nations for international development cooperation:.... [3] (a) Follow-up to policy recommendations of the General Assembly and the Council (c) South-South cooperation for development The Council resumed its consideration of the sub-items and heard an introductory statement by the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs. The Council then began its general discussion of the sub-items and statements were made by the representatives of Pakistan (on behalf of the Group of 77 and China), Portugal (on behalf of the European Union), the Russian Federation, Japan, Belarus, Indonesia, Canada, New Zealand, Algeria, Sudan, China, the United States, Brazil, Angola, India and Cape Verde, and by the observers for Switzerland, Australia, Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of) and Norway. A statement was made by the representative of the World Food Programme. The Council thus concluded its general discussion of the sub-items. 5

No. 10 Geneva (b) Reports of the Executive Boards of the United Nations Development Programme/United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations Children s Fund and the World Food Programme Recommendation contained in the Report of the Executive Board of the World Food Programme on the first and second regular sessions and annual session of 2006 Proposed amendments to the General Rules of the World Food Programme The Council endorsed the proposed amendments to the General Regulations of the World Food Programme, as contained in document E/2007/36, and recommended them to the General Assembly for its approval. Oral decision On the proposal of the Acting Vice-President of the Council, H.E. Mr. Idriss Jazaïry (Algeria), the Council took note of a number of documents submitted under item 3, as a whole. The Acting Vice-President made a concluding statement and declared closed the operational activities of the United Nations for international development cooperation segment. Organization of work The Secretary made a statement. Information for participants The lists of speakers for all segments have been indicated and are open. If no specific reference is made to a list of speakers, it implies that no such list is being maintained. The deadlines for inscription are indicated in the relevant paragraphs below.
