MINUTES BENBROOK LIBRARY DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEE MEETING February 16, 2015 Benbrook Public Library 1065 Mercedes Street Benbrook, Texas 76126 Regular Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Members Present: Roy Corky Baird Robert Christensen Anita Mitchell Members Absent: Carol Hafer, Aubra Gantt Also Present: Steve Clegg Kathy Ledford I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Robert Christensen at 6:33 p.m. II. III. Approval of Meeting Minutes January 26, 2015 A motion was made by Corky, second by Robert to approve the minutes, motion carried. Reports A. Report by the Library Director of notable activities for the District during January 2015, including meetings attended, District business conducted, financial transactions, programs presented and progress in the application of technology to library services. Steve talked about some of the highlights of the report he gave to the Board. The new Wi-Fi equipment has been installed, Ancestry genealogy resource has been added to the library. Anita asked about the Cliburn Foundation to play at the library. B. Investment officer, Board of Trustees, Report of Status of the District s Investments & TexPool statements as of January 31, 2015. Corky gave his report which included copies of the Compass Bank Overview, TexPool statement and the Frost Bank statement. TEXPOOL INVESTMENT SUMMARY AS OF JANUARY 31, 2015

Robert gave the treasurers report in the absence of Carol Hafer. Balance Curr. Investment Bal + Curr. Bank Bal. $1,831,615.99 IV. Old Business A. Consider partnering with Texas Library Districts to hire a lobbyist to work on behalf of the library Districts. Steve talked about the proposal and some of the concerns he has. A motion was made by Anita to partner with them to hire a lobbyist, it was seconded by Corky. Motion passed. The Fee for Benbrook Library paid to the Texas Library Districts would be $4,033.61 for the year. B. Investment Committee Corky began by talking about the option of paying off the Frost Bank loan. Robert would like to table a decision until a more informed sheet of pay-off of Frost Bank loan can be presented to the Board.

C. Long Range Planning Committee The committee report will be presented at the next Board meeting. D. Other old business There was not any other old business. V. New Business A. Consider updating authorized representatives for TexPool. A TexPool resolution amending authorized representatives was presented. A motion was made by Corky, seconded by Robert to amend as stated. Motion passed. B. Consider outreach proposal e-branch for the senior center. Steve presented a copy of the proposal to the Board and the cost. After discussion a motion was made by Anita, second by Corky to approve the proposal. Motion passed. C. Consider transfer of surplus library property to Friends of the Library to include in their fundraising sale. Steve presented pictures of the items he would like to transfer to the Friends for their sale. A motion was made by Anita, second by Robert to approve the transfer. Motion passed. D. Consider landscape improvement proposal Steve presented the proposal by Stauffer Landscape to trim the trees and remove debris and mistletoe also to extend the side drain 150 feet. Anita made a motion, second by Corky to approve the proposal of $4200.00. Motion passed. E. Other new business. Steve mentioned purchase of a new vending machine and the end of lease of our workroom copier. Robert said to present his proposals at the next meeting. VI. Public Comment None VII. Adjournment A motion was made by Corky, second by Anita to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. February and March were very interesting months weather wise. We had to cancel or rearrange a few of our programs due to snow. We moved the Dr. Seuss party to our March Art program day. We are really enjoying our new Yoga instructor. They will not be coming in April but will continue in May and June. In April we are hosting a 6 th grade class from Trinity Valley School who are coming out to teach us about monarch butterflies. Programming Librarian February 23rd Ordered a webcam stand that will allow Benbrook Library to live stream any 3D printing, signed up software and web address. Just waiting on delivery of stand. March Future Events Started working on paper Newsletter mailing that will be sent out and include needs assessment survey for Homebound patrons February program(rescheduled) Pet Adoption with North Texas Human Society March 28th March program Bagpiper Jimmy Mitchell scheduled for Saturday, March 14th April program Cliburn Foundation, Saturday, April 11 th April program School of Metaphysics, Saturday, April 18 th Dream Interpretations
