Dear Sir or Madam: Invitation March 11, 2016 To fulfill the Johannesburg Summit of FOCAC- Johannesburg Action Plan (2016-2018), to propel mutual understanding and friendship as well as to deepen practical cooperation between China-Africa legal fields and to promote the development of Chinese-African comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, under the framework of the FOCAC- Legal Forum, the 3 rd Course of China-Africa Young Legal Professionals Exchange Program ( the Course ) is going to be held by China Law Society from May 29 to June 11, 2016 in Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, China. The 3 rd Course is built upon our successful conduction of the previous two courses in 2014 and 2015. The Course admits up to 25 participants in total, ranging from judges, procurators, lawyers and legal counsels of the government and large enterprises, and law researchers to any other legal professionals in Africa. China Law Society will assume costs of food, accommodation and transportation for each participant in China during the Course, while the participants would bear the international flight fees on their own. The Course will take two weeks, comprising lectures and field studies, and we will mainly provide the participants with necessary and general topics on Rule of Law in China, Chinese legal culture, China s lawyer system and legal practices, and other specific law areas. We will invite famous scholars, officials and lawyers in China to communicate with the participants on these topics and in order to deepen understanding, we will also arrange visits to arbitration institutes and well-known international enterprises, where relevant seminars may also be held. The second week of the Course will be conducted in Guangzhou, one of China s commercial centers, which accommodates the largest African community in China. The language used during the Course will be English. Considering our friendship and cooperation, we here invite you to recommend TWO candidates from your organization, among whom ONE will be selected and qualified as participants (detailed requirements seen in the attached document) and please make sure to send back the Application Forms (attached below) by April 3, 2016. We will inform you of the selected participant within two weeks after receiving the Forms. Since Africa has various and complex legal systems and splendid and multiple 1
legal cultures, china legal professionals are expecting to take this opportunity to exchange with African peers. In order to strengthen the effects and improve the quality of our exchange, the selected participants will be required to choose two from the topics (which will be sent in a separate e-mail later) and prepare two papers in English, no fewer than 4000 words for each (in the form of word document for convenience of later editing for publication). Please send the papers to China Law Society (contact_cls@163.com) by May 1, 2016. The papers expect to be published bilingually to promote the Chinese professionals understanding on African legal affairs. We firmly believe that with our joint efforts, the 3rd Course would certainly become a significant platform to promote exchange and cooperation between China and Africa legal communities. Your kind support and positive cooperation would be highly appreciated! We would be most grateful if you could kindly acknowledge receipt of this email as soon as possible. Best regards!
