The second phase will take place in the Spring with the laying of a 1.5 Top coat. During these 4 days, if you don t have to come to the club, STAY AWAY and let them work. Ocean County Federation Report December, 2016 Youth Hunt at Colliers Mills was a success. Excellent weather. About 39 youth hunters participated. Just under 100 birds were stocked for this hunt. About 25 were harvested. All dog handlers reported that young hunters were safe and had an excellent time. F&G Council Meeting: some discussion about pheasant program and pheasant farm. The pheasant program does not pay for itself, so some decisions should be made. Two options being discussed: a) close the farm; b) buy pheasants under contract from commercial growers. Legislation: A-2537: remove black bear from game animal list, and make it a protected species. S-2702; Prohibit black bear hunting for 5 years; establish non-lethal bear control options. Mandate Bear Proof trash containers. Note: As of yesterday, 602 bears have been taken in NJ. This number combines the early season tally and the firearm tally so far. The firearm season runs concurrent with the deer season. If the quota goal is met, the bear season will be shut down via public notice. This may happen before the week is over. This is a new record. Permit muzzleloader season begins next week. Also shotgun antlerless permit seasons. These permits, bag limits and season lengths are zone specific. Winter bow season begins in January. A 2017 License will be required. Small game season resumes on Monday. Surplus pheasants will be added to the already published stocking numbers. Gun Range Bill: A-4179/80: Would REQUIRE all ranges (public and private) to have credentials checked before anyone could use the range. Credentials are NJ FID card and carry permit as appropriate. This bill was pulled from a vote scheduled for this past Monday, December 5 th. ANJRPC said, overwhelming calls, emails and faxes to legislators caused the bill to be pulled. Scott Bach said the fight is not over. The poorly written language had a huge number of flaws.
