Part 5 Maintenance Read Guidance notes, Part 5. The maintenance requirement is not the same for all tiers and sub-tiers of the Points Based System. You should also refer to the specific Policy Guidance relating to the tier/sub tier under which the main applicant is applying or under which he/she has entered the UK or been granted entry clearance, for the details of the amount of funds and evidence you will need to provide. For dependants of Tier 4 students only, if you qualify for our differentiation arrangements you will normally be required to provide fewer evidential documents to show maintenance with your application. Where you are exempt from having to provide a document, or group of documents, you must still complete this section to confirm you meet the requirements and you hold the evidence in the manner required. The UKBA reserves the right to request the full range of documents from Tier 4 dependants in all cases. 5.1 to indicate under which area of the maintenance requirement you are applying: Own/Main applicant s funds or your Parent/legal guardian s funds - Go to Question 5.2 Main applicant is a Tier 2 (Skilled Worker) whose A-rated sponsor is certifying your maintenance or a Tier 4 (General) Student who has Official Financial Sponsorship to cover your maintenance. Annex A - Supporting Documents Checklist Please ensure you submit all the relevant original documents that you want the Entry Clearance Officer to see when considering your application. You should also supply the documents specified on the separate Self-Assessment Appendix for the specific tier or sub-tier under which you are applying. The UK Immigration Rules make it clear that it is your responsibility to satisfy the Entry Clearance Officer that you are genuinely seeking entry to the UK for the purpose and duration that you have stated. Submission of particular documents does not guarantee that your visa will be issued. It is your decision how you satisfy the Entry Clearance Officer that your intentions are as you state in your application. Further guidance on supporting documents can be found on the UKBA web pages. If you are unable to provide a document please explain why. Your application will automatically be refused and you may be banned from coming to the UK for 10 years if you use a false document, lie or withhold relevant information.
