CLC Winter Board Meeting Westshore Grand Hotel, Tampa, FL March 3, 2018 Martina Butler National Director th I attended my 19 CLC Board Meeting. My first winter board meeting was in freezing Chicago and this year we had much better weather in Tampa. The winter board meeting starts on Wednesday s and ends after the meeting on Saturday. This year I had a very late start and did not arrive until Friday afternoon just in time for a wonderful group meeting and dinner on a boat. This is 6:45 am and the boardroom is ready. BOARD MEETING UPDATES Our meeting was called to order by our president Dave Ritchie. Jeff Papciak gave the secretary s report from the McLean, VA GN meeting. Jack McClow, our national treasurer submitted his report. The club finances are in order. We had a slight increase in members during the past six months to a total of 6,624 members. Our peak membership in 2011 was 7,256. Our region is doing quite well and increasing the membership. 1
If you are interested in a grill badge, you can get yours from Mike and Nancy Book, our office managers, for $50.00. I think you all know that Steve Stewart, our very awesome Self Starter Editor retired after 14 years retiring. During our time in Tampa two very fine and well-qualified candidates were interviewed and we now have a new editor. I know this must have been an incredibly hard decision to make. Please welcome our new editor: Jeff Shively. Jeff and his wife live in Kokomo, Indiana and a few years ago he hosted a driving tour. He did an outstanding job and we had a chance to get to know him. He is an all Cadillac guy and is the owner of five Cadillacs. During our meeting Steve received a huge round of applause and a standing ovation. We will all miss you Steve. He will work side by side with Jeff through December 2018. The Self-Starter is in the same top category (Full Size Luxury) of Golden Quill winners as the Porsche Panorama. We are all proud of our magazine. Steve and Maggi Stewart (Maggi was our copy editor) 2
Tim Coy, our Art Director, reported that we have saved over $8,000 since we have reduced the number of mailings for the International Directory. And the timing was right, we all celebrated th Tim s 60 birthday during the meeting. Tim s 60th birthday Cosmo! Happy birthday! Our new Integrated Media Sales Manager is Dave Leash. He is off and running. He is rebuilding a database for advertisers. Several new clients have been added. Regional Vice President Reports were excellent except for one region. Our new software YOUR MEMBERSHIP still has some growing pains and modifications will be made. Our Webmaster, Peter Gariepy is still improving our information. Take a look at the web site. It is looking sharp. Our Chief Judge reported that the Judging System Manual is online or you can get a hard copy for $35. There are some minor changes in the newest version of the manual. The tire chart has 3
been updated. Before you enter your car for judging and you cannot get an exact tire because they don t make it bring proof. Refer to the manual for all the details. The results from the elections should be forthcoming. Museum update: The bylaws were overhauled; changes were made to the Fall Festival Program. The judging is changing from Class Judging to Concours Judging. The museum is currently working on a three-year strategic plan.
