Core Area Courses International Studies Minor All courses chosen to fulfill the requirements of the International Studies Minor should be chosen in close consultation with an International Studies Minor advisor. Please see the website for minor requirements. Criteria for inclusion in the Core list are included at the end of this document. Courses not on the list: Special topics courses, variable topics courses, courses taken on study abroad, and other courses not on this list may be considered for the minor if they meet the established criteria. A student wishing to include these in the minor should provide a syllabus for review by an International Studies Minor advisor. Criteria for inclusion in the Core Courses List Core Area Courses meet the following criteria: Core courses must be truly international in scope; they must include a body of knowledge which is being applied to more than one region of the world. A region of the world consists of more than one country, for example: the Middle East, Western Europe, Scandinavia, or Southeast Asia. The major continents of the world consist of multiple regions. Core courses must deal with issues deemed highly relevant to modern international phenomena (1815 to the present). Core Areas: 1. Global Economy (generally, courses in Economics, Business, and/or Agricultural and Resource Economics) 3. Global Society and Culture (generally, courses in Sociology and Anthropology) 4.
