BOARD OF SUPERVISORS QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS Supervisor Bestolarides asked the County Administrator if the City of Stockton contacted him in a timely manner regarding the layoff of the Library Director. County Administrator Manuel Lopez stated that he received a call from Gordon Palmer, Stockton City Manager. Supervisor Villapudua stated that he received telephone calls from employees of Head Start regarding their concerns of Head Start Management. Secondly, the employees provided him material that was presented to the Board in October of 2008 that requested the designation of a Board Member to the Head Start Committee. Supervisor Villapudua requested clarification of what was meant by Board Member and if that meant a member of the Board of Supervisors. He requested that the County Administrator look into the employees concerns. County Administrator Manuel Lopez said that he would provide a memorandum to the Board to bring them up to date. Board of Supervisors Questions and Comments (continued) Supervisor Villapudua also requested an update on community policing. Supervisor Vogel commented that if a Board Member for the Head Start Committee meant a Board of Supervisors Member, he would be willing to serve. Supervisor Villapudua volunteered to be an alternate.
Supervisor Ruhstaller reported that he and Supervisor Vogel were jointly having a Town Hall Meeting at Waverly School on Thursday, February 12, 2009. Chairman Ornellas reported on his trip to Seattle, Washington with a group of residents from San Joaquin County who travelled at their own expense. They visited the Chihuly Studio to view the glass art that will be located in the new Administration Building. Prior to Closed Session, Chairman Ornellas recognized Mary Nicholson, Founder of Healings in Motion, Inc. Ms. Nicholson informed the Board that the International Stroke Conference is being held in San Diego, California during the week of February 15, 2009. The Clerk of the Board read each of the prepared questions. Messrs. Kenneth Blakemore and Neil Hamilton responded to all of the prepared questions and subsequent questions from Board Members. The Board appointed Kenneth Blakemore as the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk and he was administered the Oath of Office by the Clerk of the Board.
