The Facts What: Where: The Starry Night Gala benefits the American Cancer Society s life-saving mission. Highlights of the evening include an elegant cocktail reception, a world-class gourmet experience and live entertainment. The event features premier live and silent auctions and an opportunity to win a luxury car at the hole-in-one challenge. When: Saturday, May 12, 2012 Why: The American Cancer Society is the only charitable organization that fights cancer on all fronts. The Society invests donations in programs to help people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back. It continues to be the largest non-government source of cancer research funding with outstanding results. Virtually every major cancer breakthrough in the past 60 years can be traced to the Society, and 44 researchers funded early in their careers have gone on to win the Nobel Prize. Currently $55.6 million is at work in American Cancer Society cancer research programs in New York and New Jersey.
