Mr. McGinnis In an effort to assist teachers to plan and pace instruction each grade level worked last year to build specific pacing calendars for Math & Language Arts. These calendars consist of Scope and Sequence timelines that will help teachers in unit planning with assurances of covering all aspects of the curriculum. 5. New Business (IA) 5.1 Architect Presentation Mr. McGinnis At the July 7 th work session meeting the BOE sets goals to; study options to replace the gym floor at Bonner Springs Elementary School, build a plan of improvement for the Braves Athletic Complex which includes ease of access, more parking, and upgrades to locker/restroom facilities, and study opportunities to improve and update the auditorium at BSHS. To facilitate this process, HTK a local architecture firm will be presenting information about their services and how they can help the district achieve these goals. HTK has successfully provided its clients with comprehensive architectural services since the firm was founded in 1958. Now into their sixth decade, HTK has continued to evolve, adding key associates and keeping an eye to the future completing new design, addition and renovation projects throughout Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. HTK has two office locations one in the Kansas City Metro area (Overland Park) and one in Topeka. Two of the four current partners oversee the Topeka office and two oversee the Overland Park office. The total amount of the
Page 4 of 5 transaction will be $2,826,499 of which $2,620,024 will come from the 2014-2015 Bond and Interest Budget. The remainder of the payment will be derived from the Escrow Account affiliated with the 2005-A Bond Series. In terms of Principal and Interest, the payment will involve paying down $2,060,000 of the district s current bonded indebtedness. The difference will be made up of $560,024 in interest payments. Fortunately, because the district is currently receiving 29% State Aid in our Debt Service Fund, the district will be receiving a payment from the State of Kansas in the amount of $759,807 to help offset the total cost of the transaction. After the payment is complete, the total indebtedness of the district will be $28,745,000.
