Executive Board Meeting (March 4, 2015) (8:00pm/ Student Organization Office) Board Members: Present: Milan Mobley, Dynesha Lyles, Morgan Vice, Antonio Johnson, Jayla Gaines, Ryan Washington, Jasmine Adkins-Taylor, Courtney Scott, Travonn Bond, Devyn Harris, Marissa Massey, Charles Marshall, Foluke Ogunmola Absent: Richard Lucas III (unexcused), Joseph Britto (excused) Quorum: Yes Others Present: None Proceedings: I. Meeting called to order 8:05pm II. Approval of Minutes i. February 25, 2015 minutes were tabled. III. Adoptions to Agenda i. Antonio made an adoption to add Lobby Day under Vice President Update. ii. Jasmine made an adoption to add Bulldog Experience before Outstanding Updates. iii. Milan made an adoption to add Treasurer Update under Vice President Update. iv. Milan moved Voting on Suspended Members under Lobby Day. v. Antonio moved to approve the agenda with the adoptions and Morgan second. IV. President Update i. Milan said she and Marissa attended Education Day at CIAA. ii. Milan said she was disappointed with the presentation of Bowie State s table compared to the other schools. iii. Milan said the presence of faculty and staff was disappointing as well. iv. Milan said we participated in the community service event and the issue she had with that was picture taking. v. Milan said she and Dynesha are having a meeting with Dr. Travis and few other people to go over our proposals. vi. Milan said she and Dynesha have another meeting with Dr. Travis regarding the senate grievances. vii. Milan stated she and Dynesha also have a meeting with Dr. Travis, Pamela O Brien, Chair of the Communications Department, Carl Brockenbrough, Provost Jackson, and Dr. Vaughn to discuss the Communications fees.

viii. Following that meeting, Milan said she and Dynesha have meeting scheduled regarding student fees. ix. Milan informed everyone that there is no longer promotion we just have marketing. x. Milan stated due to the lack of execution it was no longer needed. V. Vice President Update i. Dynesha said that the senate meeting took place today (Wednesday, March 4 th ). ii. Dynesha said the senate is planning to have their first week. iii. Dynesha stated details of the senate week would be more concrete this week coming up. iv. Dynesha said if we have any recommendation for the week just let her know. VI. Treasurer Update i. Jasmine stated the senior class was approved for an additional $6,000 to fund their senior class trip. ii. Jasmine said the junior class was approved for an additional $2,000 to fund their Easter egg hunt. iii. Jasmine said 26 out of the 50 organizations in the senate that can request money since they fulfilled their duties last semester. iv. Jasmine said there is $961 for those 26 organizations to use. v. Jasmine said she talked to Ms. Gordon and she is encouraging us to spend as much money as we can. vi. Jasmine said Ignite was tabled because the senate wanted a proposal and the male organizations wanted to meet before planning anything. VII. Lobby Day i. Antonio said lobby day took place last Friday (February 27 th ). ii. Antonio said lobby day went well and Ryan made some connections. iii. Antonio stated two of the delegates and one senator wasn t there so they were only able to talk to one person. iv. Antonio said they just submitted the information about what the students were lobbying for. v. Antonio stated he did not like how short the sessions were. vi. Antonio stated they weren t on anyone s schedule it was more like they checked to see if the delegates and/or senators were available. VIII. Voting on Bringing Back Suspended Members i. Milan said next week Rajah and Morris would be off suspension. ii. Milan said we could vote to extend their suspension or vote to send them to the senate for impeachment. iii. Milan said Rajah has program next week, Wednesday, March 11 th, at 8pm. iv. Milan said she and Dynesha has stated several times that we do not schedule programs on the night on executive board meetings because you are required to be here and your absence will be unexcused. v. Milan said the executive board did not approve this particular event during the retreat. vi. Milan said she informed Rajah that the executive board did not approve his event so he would not be able to host the event.

vii. Milan stated that Jasmine informed Joseph that Rajah is suspended right now which means that he cannot use the money out of the budget. viii. Milan said Rajah went to Ms. Cooke and he told Ms. Cooke that he s off suspension and he requested the money through her. ix. Milan said told Ms. Cooke not to give Rajah the money because he is not off suspension, he hasn t met with his advisory committee, he hasn t met with the executive board, and the executive board has not made a final decision on whether he s coming back or not. x. Regarding Morris, Ryan said he thinks that we should keep Morris so that we can give him another chance to prove himself. xi. Milan asked who were all in favor of sending Morris to the senate; 5 in favor and 5 opposed. xii. Milan said he goes to the senate for impeachment. xiii. Milan asked who were all in favor of sending Rajah to the senate for impeachment; 3 in favor, 5 opposed, and 4 abstentions. xiv. Milan said Rajah would come back to the executive board. xv. Milan revoked the last motion that was passed on Rajah. xvi. Travonn moved that we vote on whether to send Rajah to the senate for impeachment or bring him back off of suspension. xvii. Milan asked who were all in favor of sending Rajah to the senate; 4 in favor and 5 opposed. IX. Campus Issues i. Thompsons food ii. Antonio said compared to Thompsons at other schools, the quality is not the same at Bowie. iii. Jasmine said she s tired to seeing the same types of food. iv. Jasmine said they no longer serve burgers on the grill it has to be requested. v. Jasmine stated the curly fries are cooked in old grease. vi. Courtney stated late notification about classes being canceled. vii. Jasmine also stated there are issues with the registrar s office. X. Who I Met Report i. Jasmine said she met a girl named Tatyana Moore and she wants to be a part of the honors program. ii. Antonio said he met someone named Jonathan and he s interested in running for Mr. Junior. XI. Upcoming Event Update/Vote Ø Sophomore Class i. Jayla said she and Milan talked about sophomore week. ii. Jayla said she wasn t aware that she had to have a sophomore week. iii. Jayla said her event coordinator has planned a meet and greet. iv. Jayla said the sophomore class wants to have a men s spa. v. Milan informed Jayla that Ms. Valentine would not allow them to have a men s spa. vi. Jayla said they have an event called Red Light Special, which will be statues of male and female sex organs.

vii. Jayla said different types of STD s and STI s would be portrayed on the statues. viii. For the Red Light Special, Jayla said they want to collaborate with ATOD. ix. Jayla said they have a Boys vs. Girls Debate. x. Jayla stated they have another event called Win a Date with a Bowie Man. xi. Jayla said the dates for sophomore week are March 30 th April 3 rd. xii. Jayla stated they are trying to find another event in place of the men s spa day. xiii. Travonn moved that we vote on the sophomore class week and Ryan second. xiv. Milan asked who were all in favor by a show of hands; 9 in favor, 0 opposed, 1 abstention. Ø Junior Class i. Antonio said he spoke to Jerome and Ms. Glaster so CSA is willing to match to the $2,000 for the Easter egg hunt. Ø Freshmen Class i. Ryan said he has a dance battle coming up on March 19 th and he plans on having it in the McKeldin Gym. ii. Ryan said his board discussed having an excel week and he will have a layout this next week. iii. Travonn moved that we vote on the freshmen class events. iv. Milan asked who were all in favor by a show of hands; all were in favor. Ø CAB i. Courtney said next week is CAB is collaborating with ATOD. ii. Courtney said Monday is a promotion table and the Girl Boss Forum with Radiance, Feathers of Maat, and NCNW. iii. Courtney said on Tuesday they have kickboxing and Wednesday is Cupcakes and Conversations with Angie Ang. iv. Courtney stated Thursday is the Look for Less with the Society of Sophisticated Ladies. v. Milan said on Tuesday, ATOD has an event called Behind the Curtains (Women s HIV testing). vi. Milan said on Wednesday is the Red Pump Brunch and this is invite only. vii. Milan said she and Courtney encourage everyone to wear red all next week. viii. Milan proposed the idea of taking a bus to ocean city for a day trip on a Saturday and the board agreed to this. ix. Milan said she and Courtney are looking to have Curtis, the one who designed the 150 shirts, to do the shirts for Hype Fest. XII. Bulldog Experience i. Jasmine said Ms. Gordon informed her that a lot of organizations have come to student life for giveaways. ii. Jasmine said Ms. Gordon suggested that we find other things students might want other than t-shirts. iii. Jasmine said Ms. Gordon suggested portable chargers, USB drives, Bluetooth speaker, and padfolios. iv. Jasmine stated Ms. Gordon is requesting $2,600 out of the Bulldog Experience budget. XIII. Outstanding Updates

i. Milan said we have a nice amount of dedicated actors for the Penis Meets the Vagina monologue. ii. Milan asked would we be willing to assist with the play. iii. Milan said we would be helping with anything backstage and at the door. iv. Travonn, Ryan, Foluke, and Antonio said they would help out with the play. v. Regarding the Royal Court, Marissa said next week is the Look for Less program with CAB. vi. Marissa said she still wants try to have her program in Towers tomorrow night (March 5 th ). vii. Marissa stated the she has a table in the NSC on Friday and brochures will be given out regarding what ladies should have in their purses. viii. Charles said he and Richard are planning a Men s Week and it s going to be in early April. XIV. Comments, Concerns i. None XV. Adjournment i. Meeting adjourned at 10:06
