What is SNIEG? The National Statistical and Geographical Information System (SNIEG) is the set of State Units organized through the National Information Subsystems, coordinated by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) with the purpose of producing and disseminating National Interest Information.

Specialized Technical Committee for the Sustainable Development Goals (STC SDG) Members:

Specialized Technical Committee for the Sustainable Development Goals (STC SDG) The STC SDG was established in 2015, to continue the work of the STC of the MDG, in place since 2010. Objective Coordinate conceptual, methodological, technical and operational work, within the framework of SNIEG, that allows to generate and periodically update the information required to design and evaluate public policies aimed to the compliance of the SDG committed by Mexico in the framework of the 2030 Agenda.

Actions to evaluate statistical capacity in México First stage: initial assessment of statistical and geographical capacity. Second stage: interinstitutional workshops. Third stage: define indicators for national monitoring and road map for indicators in Tier II and III.

National Council for the 2030 Agenda In April 2017, the National Council for the 2030 Agenda was created, as a binding institution between the Federal and local governments, the private sector and the academia. This council will coordinate the actions for design, execution and evaluation of strategies, policies and programs for the compliance of the 2030 Agenda in México, and will inform about the follow up of goals, targets and indicators.

Migration related data sources from census and surveys

Main data sources for migration indicators (INEGI Mexico) National Household Survey (ENH) (Every year, sample size 64,000 households) Questions related to migration: Place of residence 5 years before. National Household Income and Expenditure Survey (ENIGH) (Every two years, sample size 20,000 households) Questions related to migration: Place of residence 5 years before. National Survey on Population Dynamics (ENADID) (Every 3-4 years, sample size 100,000 households) Questions related to migration: Place of birth. Place of residence 1 year before. Place of residence 5 years before. Cause of migration. International migration module.

Migration indicators from household surveys (INEGI Mexico) A total of 6 indicators related to migration can be obtained from household surveys, considering the country of birth for defining migratory status.
