Results of Studies
Objectives of the Workshop 2014 Overall workshop goal is to understand the recent activities of various players involved in control of TBM and promoting ESM, and to enhance collaboration among them. Session 1: Updates of national regulation, implementation status and import/export statistics (day1 and day2) Objective: To share the latest information on policies, rules and regulations and TBM trend of hazardous wastes, particularly E-waste and UEEEs. Session 2: Possible measures to promote ESM within Asia and link with TBM (day2 PM) Objective: To learn practices taken by government and industry for ensuring ESM and to examine possible measures for promoting ESM in the region. Session 3: Measures for strengthening border control and facilitation of takeback procedure (day2 AM) Objective: To identify difficulties faced by the enforcement officers for tackling illegal traffic and take-back issue and elaborate possible regional approaches. Session 4: Policy/practice for ensuring repair & refurbishment of EEEs in environmentally sound manner (day2 PM) Objective: To have better understanding of repair/refurbishment practice operated by EEE manufacturers as well as government policy for supporting those activities. 9
